open source picture manager

Rate this Entry
It has been a while, but I'll try to be more on TF again... I was very busy with quite a lot of things.... I have some question for you guys: I find paying 140 euro for 'Microsoft Office' a bit too expensive, so I use 'Open Office', which is 'open source' and free to use. I would like to have something like 'Microsoft Picture Manager'. Need to crop lots of pictures. I know that MBK is an option to buy some cracked version, but for now (I'm still in Holland): What is a good open source picture manager? My OS is Windows XP. Any suggestions?

Does it have to be open source or is just freeware enough?

I would suggest irfanview as basic photo viewer/editor. It's freeware.

Have u tried GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). Have a look at

    http://www.gimp.org/

It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

Paint.net is very good and free. Has pretty much everything photoshop has. You have to install the .net framework thingy too. Lightroom is excellent, probably the best work flow tool around now. You can try it for 30 days for free and cracks are easily obtainable if you're feeling naughty
