I encourage thai people to buy from local independent businesses, because the corporations have no interest in your good health and wealth.

Corporations are fast track channels to keep down the middle class and channel all money to a tiny fraction at the top.

I'm talking about this problem as a worldwide phenomenon, not just Thailand. But maybe Thai people still have a choice to keep their small business going, and the economy under reach of the middle class.

See Thaksin as an example (other examples in USA) when corporations mix with media and government to create a dangerous super-concentrated power.

I'm fairly certain they are wrong about Amata Industrial Estate being a Thaksin supporter or sympathizer.
  7. JBJE's Avatar
After Amata nearly went under immediately following the 1997 crisis, a lot of really good things happened to Amata in the Thaksin years, so I can understand why the inferences are made.

"7/6/2005--Amata Corporation Plc, the industrial estate developer, has signed a joint-venture agreement with Holley Industry Group of China to invest 10 billion baht to develop China Industrial City, to attract investors to Thailand.

Viboon Kromadit, Amata's senior executive vice-president, said chief executive Vikrom Kromadit signed the agreement with Wang Li Cheng, the chairman of Holley Industry Group. The pact was one of 12 co-operation agreements signed at a Beijing ceremony during Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's visit last week marking 30 years of Thailand-China relations.

The project would be situated on a 500-rai site inside the Amata Nakorn..."

So... if you take the effort to copy and paste all of this (how smart u are)... can you come to the point!
I dont see your problem, the guy is smart, made a lot of money and with money you buy power, it's called CAPITALISM!
  9. Loburt's Avatar
I know that Vikrom had a reasonably good relationship with Thaksin and had both good and bad things to say about him. He also has good things to say about Abhisit. I am not aware of him having any political enemies as it is not in his interest to do so.

But at the same time, he is very close to Anand Panyarachun and I don't believe he would risk that relationship. And so I am certain he is not supporting the Red Shirt movement financially or in other ways.

I also remember that in early 2006, months before the coup, Vikrom publicly called on Thaksin to step back from politics.

That doesn't sound like a Thaksin lackey to me.
