This is no way an attack on any Thais ability to speak English.....My Thai is shamefully poor, but some conversations i have with Thai people always cracks me up in a cute/funny way.

I came home tonight after having a serious debate with Joy about the inns and outs of her latest English masters degree assignment....I think i was as much use to her as a kick in the bollocks ( It was a hard one ) So I came home, had a few relaxing Jack's and watched some Only Fools And Horses....Grandad died so i got all emotional and had to drink more Jack!

When i logged on MSN someone i hadn't spoken to for years said hello.....never met her, just a chat buddy. The conversation went like this, ignoring the usual pleasantries.

Me...You not go out tonight?

She...No, just working finished now

Me...where are you working now?

She...Bkk and u?

Me...(This was a tad sarcastic but wtf?) I know u are in Bkk so i was expecting you to be a little more specific in which part of Bkk you work (Big pause)

She...Ekkamai

Me...What you do?

She...Talk to friend.

    No need for sarcasm me ole mucker.....Just coz its COLD, RAINING, WET, and 24C colder than it is in yer old home town. Don't get ratty with meee!

    To be fair, i heard it got all the way to the hazzy heights of 12C today? You lucky lucky man U!

    Yes 12C of pure bliss. Wouldnt mind if we could of had at least a touch of sun. Poxy weather. More reason to sit in the pub though. lol
    Only a couple of weeks to go.....frrriiiieeeennnnd!

    I get that same thing too. If I know it's coming, I'll say ''In which part of Bangkok do you live?"

    More often than not, I'll get the reply "yes, u2?"

    My all-time favorite is conversations that involve time. Here was one on the phone:

    Me: Okay, so I'll meet you for dinner at 8, okay?

    Her: AM or PM?

    Me: Well, if it was AM it would be breakfast.

    Her: So PM, right?

    Another one I used to see when chatting was the same confusion over AM and PM even when being explicit.

    Her: What time is it in your country?

    Me: 15:00

    Her: AM or PM?

    Me: Is there a 15:00 AM?

    Her: Not understand. 15:00 AM or PM?

    And just to be fair have you ever looked at some of the stuff people write on the Visitor Messages? When we had the testimonials at least their mad pick up skills might not get posted for the world to see but since we went over to VM's I love seeing stuff like:

    Hey, you look hot. I'm bigthrobbingpenis............. on MSN. Hit me up so we can chat.
    or

    The seeing you make me have spesial emotion. I have feeling want to chatz wit you and be yourz boyfriend.
