Something Different

Little Feets - 31, 2012 in NY

The New Year rang in for us quietly. The girls were asleep in their beds, and I was watching the ball drop on TV here in New York. Honestly, it was a lonely point. I can't remember a New Year passing being completely alone since my bed time was 11:00 PM (even then I can't remember it).

I'm not one of those guys who will say it's not a special day just because the world has told us it's a special day. I do think NYE is and should be a big day for most people. Everyone needs a point of reference where they are forced to reflect on the past while planning for the future.

Working in a startup here is completely different than any other startup I've been in. One day hasn't gone by where I haven't recognized how grateful I am for how my family has brought me up. One day hasn't gone by where I haven't been grateful for my business partner who gave me this opportunity. One day in my entire life hasn't gone by where I haven't appreciated my friends who have stayed by my side.

My focus up until now has been "80% is about how can I change my life, and 20% is about how I can change the world." Now I look at everything as, "the world has problems, and I need to do the best I can to help it." I've gotten more comfortable with the idea that if shit hits the fan, I'll either own the electric company, or (most likely) I'll show you how shit smell will empower you to work shit out.

Yes, Jasmine doesn't hear about my naughty language here and there. Yes, Jasmine has a lot to do with me wanting to correct the world. However, coming back to the USA with this opportunity to do something big for the education system has grown my appreciation for the bigger...bigger picture, ten-fold.

Now I'll get to the point regarding why I can't pluralize the word "feet" properly. Well, there is an answer for that. My blog name has changed after 30 posts, because Jeab and I are going to have another baby! She's only 8 weeks pregnant at the moment, so it's still a bit early. However, we're confident that everything will go smoothly (I believe that it will be a boy for some reason).

We've informed our immediate family already. I thought I'd inform my TF friends now. Not to get all teary-eyed and all, but I love the TF community for all the support there is here. It's a positive charge in my life, and I can't thank you all enough for...being. 143.

Congrats to all who have made it through the entirety of this entry. Hopefully I'm only 5% of my way into the entire blog. Looking over it, however, I feel like I've shared a lifetime. XOXO.

Wow congrats Rob! When I start reading a blog / an article I do make guesses of what will be the ending, usually my guesses are right or I got an idea already of what will be the ending. This one surprised me!! Oppppssss I missed the "Feets" lol.

If the second baby is a girl I could not imagine how could she be prettier than Jasmine!
    You have a beautiful family.

    Thanks, Ces.

It's funny you replied first as Jeab and I have noticed that you appreciate Jazz so much. Thanks a million.

I thought of making "Feets" at the last moment, and just went with it. Good luck to you and Ciaran.

That is happy news for a new year. There is an old wives superstition that if you want a boy, you, not Jeab, get one of those baby diaper safety pins with the blue safety closure, and carry it in your pocket, or billfold always until the birth.

My brother-in-law did this resulting in two boys, and then changed to the pink safety pin, and they had a girl. It is old school thinking though so you have to believe in the superstition.

yep .... that's sure to fucking work !!! never mind those X and Y chromosomes ... it's all about the colour of the safety pin !!!

Congrats Rob, am really happy for you guys. No matter whether it's a boy or girl, let's all hope it's healthy.

How do you know it's going to to be a boy? Did you put your legs into the thrust this time? lol

Ciaran, thanks! When are you gonna have a baby?

koolbreez, I'm not very superstitious and I'm not pulling for a boy or a girl. I just feel like it's going to be a boy. Either way, Jazz will be a great big sister.

SKY, we actually found out just before Christmas. It was a great gift.

Iain, happy to be of service to you. That will be $135, and I don't accept checks.

Dave, we do keep our pants on From Friday - Sunday...it's cold here!

Kevin, thanks for the well-wishes. I cannot divulge me secret, but I'll let you know this: It's all in the hips

I hope you do something big for the education system but please don't turn off the heat in the schools, unless your trying to save the world. (tongue firmly planted in cheek)

I think that in any case you should think about how you can make the life of your family a better one, especially your kid(s). I am not a family man at all but after reading (yes, I did!) your blogs about your family I think that apart of your wife and your kids, there should not be any no.1 priorities!

Good luck to all of you!
