From the book "speaking Thai"
Karuna riek moh hai noy krab=call a doctor quickly!
Khor yuem pakgar noi krab?=May i borrow your pen please?
Khor sak song daimai?=may i use some please?
Karuna bork chue khun noy krab?=could you tell me your name please?
Khor pood gun khun Marisa daimai krab?=could I speak to Mrs Marisa please?
***************************************************************
Example#1
Karuna riek moh hai noy krab! Here I am ordering or exclaiming
but
Karuna bork chue khun noy krab? Here i am requesting.
Both use "noy" why?
Example#2
Khor yuem pakgar noi krab? Here i am to use "noi"
but
Khor sak song daimai? Here I am not to use "noi"
Both are "may i questions" or subjective, yet only one uses "noi"?
also
Khor pood gun khun Marisa daimai krab?
Here i am subjective, yet don't use noi/noy.
Are there any guideline as when to use noi/noy?
Thanks,
Bobby

Actually I thought ˹èÍ (noi) usage was , for example, a bit "taller etc", a little more of "?", or a little while whereas the usage of ¹éÍ (noy) is, for example, few "?", little "?", small, slight, tiny, etc.
That is why it is used when you want a little more!

Noi/Noy is the same word. If it shows in sentense means we would like to ask something form you in polite way but in correct should to to say
For weman..Di Chan kor yeum pak ka noy dai mai ka?=May i borrow you pen.
For men..Pom..........Dai.Mai krab?
We use Noy not noi(Shot not compare in thai long speech)
For single word..We use Noy too..means small, little or tiny.
In thai language so different from others coz we have rhythm or tone of speech. Lots foreigner can't say...Ka KA' KAèÑç KA KA+ê..>¡Ò ¡èÒ ¡éÒ ¡êÒ ¡ëÒ
That's why they can't speck thai clearly.

Thank you everyone for your input here...very helpful!![]()
Bobby
p.s. would I use noi/noy to make a name cute? Or even to explain that someone is little or younger?
ex: Bobby noi (little Bobby or Bobby's son)
ex: Sawasdee sandee noi (hello little angel)
Thanks again.
Bobby
