      Day Trips From BKK

Does anyone know of any good day trips from BKK other than Gan & Ayuthaya? What should I do or see in that location? If possible please tell me how to get there without my own car.

If you do a Google search for something like bangkok sightseeing tours you will be innundated with choices, and in fact is a good thing to do. And the same tours from different travel agents most often have different prices so shop for price too!

By "Gan" I assume you mean Kanchanaburi and the bridge over the river Kwai thing.

Another well worth considering is a trip to the Damnoen Floating Market. Although it has grown touristy, it would still exist without the tourists, and is one of the few left. DON'T do the floating market tour on the Chao Phraya River in bkk. It is 95% phoney. For any of the tours booked they will pick you up (and take you back) to most of the major hotels so transportation is a no-brainer. If you're not in a major hotel you can take a taxi to any pickup point.

For Ayutthiya, I recommend that you do a riverboat cruise whereby you go one way by bus and the other by riverboat. The boat trip is very relaxing and seeing life along the riverbanks is likewise interesting. Most of them cost around 1,500 baht/person but I recommend the one operated by the Shangri-La Hotel. The boat is newer and the buffet lunch provided is far superior to others, but the cost is about 200 baht more. Worth it in my judgement.

There is more I could tell you but this should keep you busy for awhile.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi province.

Rose Garden , Samphran Elephant Park and Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom.
