No doubt you'd save some money but maybe not as much as you think. Even porcelain crowns are laminated to gold and the price of gold is pretty much the same everywhere. Re implants, again, if they're imported you might not save as much as you'd hope.Originally Posted by eagle

I went to Thailand in September to do a 100% porcelain crown. I did it at the Silom Dental Clinic, which Thai friends told me is one of the better clinics. It was 14,000 Baht for the entire job. The very best place to get it done is in the Samitavej hospital's dental school on Sukhumvit soi 48 or 49. An Italian friend said the same work runs about 20,000. I thought the Silom clinic was fine -- although I chose there just because I found out about the Samitavej place later. Anyway, those are the prices -- as for the technology and technical skills, you're looking at the best dental care in Asia in Thailand.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Mike

I have a fear of going to English dentists,
1)Fear ... yes im a big girl when it comes to drills n needles
2) Cost
3) The process, Checkup, re-book for hygenist, another visit, clean, another visit, diagnosis, treatment.
Which all ammounts to a couple of afternoons off work ... after everything adds up ... its the same cost as a flight to Thailand.
So I have a GREAT dentist on Lat Ya, Nr. Wong Wein Yai .. hes close to apartment, never busy, i just walk in most times for a fortnightly clean when im in BKK.
The charge is 500b or 700b for clean, and i think 200b per ceramic filling ...
Cost isnt the most important factor, i just feel re-assured by him ... he doesnt give me a hard time about looking after my teeth or the hard sell ... just an honest opinion ... hes known me for a few years now and he knows what im like ... and his english is 1st class too ...
I have had his work checked out here, and the UK dentist says its as good as any UK work ... so i shall carry on visiting ..
I dont think i would go for any major treatment there .. Maybe Silom or Asavanti Dental clinic on Suk ... but for a check up, clean, filling and an easy visit .. no problems.

My 75 year old mother just did about 300K baht worth of dental work at the Asavanant dental Clinic on the corner of Suhkumvit and Soi Thonglor.
I think they are an excellent clinic. Dr Asavanant speaks excelent English.
They have been there for 17 years and have 25 different specialists.
there may be cheaper places but not better I think.
