When 9/11 happened I was sitting in an Islamabad kitchen with my then girlfriend and her younger brother arguing about the USA and it's policies..... it stopped the fucking conversation dead!!! We all thought What the FUCK!

I was in college in New York...sleeping. The planes didn't even wake me up. The buildings coming down didn't even wake me up. It was my mom who finally got through on the phone who told me we were under attack!

I was on my way to my internship at Merrill Lynch located at World Financial Center.. a block away from World Trade Center. I was lucky because I was always late for work (still now). Both planes already hit WTC and the last subway stop was at City Hall. I asked a cop if I could cross the west side highway to get to WFC, and the cop was like WTF are you talking about? I was so stupidly afraid to lose my job. In the end, I was there in city hall area watching the 1st building came down... the most f-cked up and saddest thing I have ever seen in my life.

I guess it's a good thing I missed it all...still not sure about all of that - even today.

I had my 21st birthday 2.5 weeks after that. It was strange to walk around Manhattan that evening in a somber celebration of sorts. Police were still heavily guarding the area, and the air...It was the first time I really felt thousands of souls walking aimlessly about as if nothing happened.

The air was so thick and crowded...it was difficult to say the least. :cry:
