Bangkok experts and expats give me your hotel recommendations. Requirements are pretty general, I like a good location at a reasonable price.
Really value for money is what I like- i'm happy to pay more as long as you get more for your money.
Spoiler for any funny guys, no I don't want to stay in Mandarin Oriental, Marriot etc. And first person to say Nana Hotel owes me a beer

urm have you ever used a forum before? Would you prefer a discussion about bra sizes or something?Originally Posted by PeeMarc
This is a Thailand forum- and on here are a lot of people who either live in Thailand or visit Thailand. People living in Bangkok will have first hand knowledge about hotels in BK, people who visit would apreciate some of that first hand knowledge.
Again a random presumption that i'll not be in Thailand for 5 years

I think the problems are these...
You start forums that offer no discussion... you ask for information which is easily available on search engines.
When you asked for advice, you didn't listen and got defensive.
Think of this forum as a saloon full of people who have known each other for several years.
You walk in through the swing doors, the music stops and you have a chance to make a first impression... and what you did was ask for advice from a room full of experts and then act like you knew better than they did.
Retiring in 5 years? Good for you... I hope you can do it - sincerely.
But why bother asking us for house prices now? Come back in 4 and 1/2 years. My feeling is, you want attention and want to feel love from Thailand... (look up Kyoto Koala)
Hotel prices? All online... find 'em yourself.
And what do vague terms like 'reasonable' and 'value for money' and 'good location' mean?
For this forum - my advice is, come online, be friendly, ask for advice (by all means) but thank those who give it.
Then after a while when you've earned your stripes, you can start being an asshole (like the rest of us)...
.... feel like I wanna say, 'Cotton-pickin' whippersnapper, dagnabbit!'
There... I just said it... some of my staff are looking at me strangely.
