I went to Fortune town last night to pay my bill... Suddenly I think why people spend a lot of there money to those uncertain technology...
1. Laptop... price are going down every month... the spec. I have I bought it 23000 baht now it's nothing... 13000 baht Compaq is better than mine. Sometimes I think I should buy a new one, but after I graduated, there is no point to have brand new laptop. Apple is interesting sometimes, but after i gave away my iMac to a temple, I have to think again.
2. Cell Phone. Smart Phone, iPhone. BB... I feel great I'm not crazy about expensive phone, my friends push me to buy BB or iPhone or Omnia... they know I can afford it... but as a cheap chick, 2x,xxx for small stuff.. hmm let me think. I will drop it... I will lose it, or some pick pocket will take it from me. So 5900 baht Candy Chat is fine for me.
3. GPS. Why do I need that thing? I think I'm a smart driver, so many times I show my friends that I know roads, short cuts than their stupid GPS, getting lost is for learning a new direction :P
4. DSLR camera, I think I will buy it next year, hopefully.
5. LCD monitor, I saw 20" Samsung 4800 baht, I don't know if I can find cheaper one... 25" was nice 12,000 Baht it's quite expensive for me, and don't know where to put it in my tiny bed room which full of books and cloths, bags, cosmetics...
OK my questions here.
1. How much you spend your money for technology per year or per month.
2. How many time that you replace those stuff with new one.
3. Which one do you like to buy often?

1. Too much! Last weekend I picked up my new Core i7 desktop......i got specs that I don't even think I need!
2. Too often!I like to replace mobiles, I got a samsung omnia and I totally don't recommend it! But there is nothing out there that competes with Iphone (which I refuse to join the herd for!) Hurry up Google!
3. PC peripherials would probably be the one I but often!
P.S GPS would be very useful if you lived in Australia!

1. That's going to vary. The year I purchased my MacBook Pro I obviously spent more than the "norm." I used to have every new gadget, gaming console, etc but as I started relocating to various parts of the world I started to only buy what I absolutely need since I'll probably be selling it or throwing it away the next time I move continents due to the shipping costs and replacement value.Originally Posted by bCool
2. Replace is hard to say, I had a MacBook and 3 years later bought a MacBook Pro. I still have the MacBook and take it with me as my travel laptop. I also wirelessly hook into iTunes on my Pro and use it as a remote tunes station in the apartment. So, did I replace it?
My DSLR I bought in maybe 2004 or 2005. Paid about $1000 for the body. It still works perfectly and all but I do like the features on the newer models. If I replaced it today that would mean an average cost of $200 a year to own the camera . . . fair deal.
Mobiles are a lot more difficult to judge because up until I moved here my company always supplied them :-) But, in general, it's a business tool for me. I can check emails, SMS, etc all from my phone. Seeing as how I still do a lot of business back in Europe and the US that works out very well since I don't have to be sitting in front of my computer until 3am in the morning. I can go out and have a good time and check my emails here and there to respond.
So, in that sense, I will replace my phone whenever something new comes out that is cost efficient compared to my current phone. If the new iPhone made monkeys fly out of my butt and that was important to my business then it seems to be a cost efficient purchase.
3. See #1. I used to love buying every new gadget that came out but now it's not very practical with my lifestyle so I just buy what I need and replace it when I deem the current version to be so far superior to the existing one that it makes sense.

I buy what fits into my lifestyle and I like Apple stuff. I bought a iBook in March 2006. The iBook served me well, still works, but it was 3 1/2 years old and getting time to update to Mac Intel machine, so I bought a new Macbook and I am a happy camper. I use the MacBook everyday for my work, sometimes run Windows on VMware Fusion for special tech stuff.
Also, I use a iPod Touch to take with me when I'm traveling, so easy to sync all my stuff with the Macbook. And I have Airport Express wireless network at home, nice to use with the iPod Touch at home. Further, I use MobileMe which is OK, but it's a little expensive.
When I am on road and need a document I can download it or send it by Email. Plus, if I lost my computer for any reason, I have a backup of important files online.
Been thinking about switching to "Dropbox" which I also like for online storage at about half the cost of MobileMe.
So far I have been able to postpone buying a iPhone, but now it has GPS and shooting video and some awesome apps, but the longer I wait the better it gets.
I use a Nokia 2630 and mai mee bon haa

It's easy enough to get sucked into all the tech hype but whilst I do like my boys toys I also have developed a certain resistance to the consume-pressure.
PC-wise I always build my own systems. Gives me more bang for the buck and I get exactly the specs I want whilst building future proof (as much as one can) meaning I can upgrade for a few years when needed or money allows. My last PC lasted 5 years before upgrading wasn't a viable option anymore. It still works though reasonable good enough for office applications.
For one-the-road purposes I have a netbook since I do value mobility which for me does include battery life. The only other show in town that would give me that is a MacBook which I would like to have but just isn't in the budget.
Phones are for me exactly for that...phoning. I don't need all of the gimmickry you get these days on a mobile phone. No internet, no emails, no camera even although the latter one is almost unavoidable. I rather have a mobile that can take 2 sim cards and is shock and waterproof and has a battery that doesn't need charging every other day (if you know one pm me please as long as it's affordable). SatNav on a mobile is a handy thing to have though I would think (since I don't have such a phone it is just an assumption). My current phone is getting onto 2 years and I have no intention of replacing it. A new battery is all I'll get.
SatNav or GPS is a very dandy thing to have and I have used mine all over Europe. Now the thing to bear in mind is that people with no sense of orientation may still end up in the middle of nowhere since operating a good GPS does require reading the manual in the first place and having some idea of where one is trying to go. My TomTom is 3 years or so old and all I do is upgrade maps once a year.
I don't have DSLR, even though I'd love one, and my Sony camera is 5 years old now. Still takes pictures reasonable enough (well, good enough to get Zero votes in the TF photo competition but that has more to do with me than the equipment I'd say  ). If I had the money and could justify it I'd buy Pentax K-7 in a heartbeat.

im not into techno stuff, i can study how they works, utilizably but I dont buy them. I try to live my life simply 8) . The most advance tech I have is used smart Nokia N95 8GB to replaced my digital camera, mobile phone, notebook. as I like to take snap short pics not a pro-pho and i bored of carrying those stuff with me everywhere. Now I just let a mobile phone does it all.
