Just got the new Mac Mini and a 50" plasma TV to go with it, all complete with wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. Gotta say this new little unit is awesome. Still loading up all the software I want on it, but am very, very happy with it

It's ideal for home entertainment... I bought the Apple TV which is a little too locked down for my liking but not so bad now i hacked it to play all my AVI files. This mac mini is a better solution though and a fairly descent computer..

If you are looking at media players I think you should consider a couple of other options.Originally Posted by PeeMarc
On the TV front PVRs seem to be a good solution, but I know nothing about Truevisions. On the media front there are DIVXs. Same size as an Apple mini but you can chop and change the hard drives. They cost about Bt6k and the guy who sells them in Panthip also sells 1 terabyte hard disks for Bt4k which have 100 blue Ray hi definition films on them. He has several.
I have the details somewhere if anyone is interested. Blue Ray looks great on a big plasma. Prices are pretty rough. But you get the idea. A blue ray film is about 10 gig. It is essentially good value because if you have 5 or 500 films you dont feel obliged to put True Visions in the guest bedrooms and then get told how crap it is by your guests.
P.S. The guy who is putting in my HD Truevisions tells me I have to keep the old box because the new box is only HD. Surely that is wrong because it is backwards compatible. Mind you he did tell me he would put it in two weeks before the World Cup and I bet he has already decided to arrive at 8.00am after the final. I wont be up but I will take petty and vindictive revenge.
