Happy Birthday Gav mate. 62 already eh? Where have all the years gone? I expect you can probably remember being 40 something, if you try real hard.

Never mind mate, you'll be 69 before you know it

Form:

TheGuv, having recently been brought out of retirement, hasn’t raced for a while, but as can be seen, he is firm of fetlock, fleet of foot and large of buttock. He will be a genuine challenge to the usual suspects.

EricsToysMan is the dark horse in the field. Little is known about the competitor as he likes to keep a low TF profile. However, recent form suggests he is in with a shout here.

Whiskies. A thoroughbred through and through. Bred from strong antipodean stock, he is always up with the front runners and is always a good bet for the more mature risk taker.

KinkyNa is a rock. A brick. There are not enough stone derived nouns to describe this stalwart performer. Consistency is the name of his game and woe betide any who bet against him.

And then we come to the king. Master of all he surveys. His twin stereoscopic vision gleans huge advantages over the monochromatic view of his challengers. Magnanimous in victory, he is the most worthy of adversaries. He needs no introduction. He is. WallsIces.

Starter’s Orders!

The competitors are nervous in the blocks. But, they are used to the Saturday midnight starting time and do not appear to be phased. WallsIces, supremely confident, casts a derisive sideways glance towards his opponents. He has seen it all before. TheGuv seems nervous. He has not settled into his stall and the marshals rush to calm him. Whiskies, always a good starter, foaming at the mouth and snapping at the bit, is eager to begin the chase. EricsToysMan remains quietly confident. He knows from experience that it will be endurance over brute force which will win the day. KinkyNa lets a wry smile slip. We all know he is here for the chase.

They’re Off!

They’re away! The weekly running of the TF Vote Claim Stakes is under way!

Straight into the lead by a head with “You’re so sweet – Big hugs” tears WallsIces! “Falling in behind is Whiskies with a “Sincere sorry” and currently neck and neck in third place are KinkyNa and TheGuv with who both appear to miss the first post. Disturbingly, silently EricsToysMan slipstream the rabble as they race towards the first hurdle…

WallsIces is first to the post with a well timed “ \(*.*)/ ” and clears with plenty of room to spare. Whiskies, beginning to fall a few lengths behind, recovers with a “lol’ and regains a length. TheGuv and KinkyNa are falling further behind, but still jockeying for 3rd place and EricsToysMan, like an assassin waiting for the perfect time, continues to bring up the rear…

As they approach the second, WallsIces appears to have gained a commanding lead over the chasers, who are falling further behind. However, WallsIces, TheGuv and KinkyNa all fail to take advantage of the simple post and Whiskies seizes the opportunity to pull back with “Make him laugh…”, which catches all napping. EricsToysMan gains ground on TheGuv, who looks to be flagging after returning from his recent retirement…

As they enter the back straight, the order is WallsIces with a clear 47 length lead and it certainly looks like it’ll be another walkover for the Master, Whiskies lies second, just 15 lengths ahead of the third place contender KinkyNa, with TheGuv and EricsToysMan a dead heat…

No more bets please!!!
