Thumbs up Improving my PAKWAN skills

Well nearly time to get back to Thailand for me and I want to learn some new words and phrases. Particularly in the field of pakwan. There's only so many times you can say - naarak. I need some new chat for 2011.

Been having a look on youtube and found some useful Thai language podcasts.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjXoGrrKZXc

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygm2O...eature=related

'Dating and sweet things' and 'flirting and love'. Some very useful phrases but things like 'you are the girl of my dreams' are just a bit OTT for me. I don't want to make any wild promises just find some alternatives for things like naarak and suay that Thai people might say. Any alternatives to phrases like - mon kee oh. Just light amusing compliments that can get a smile. Most grateful for any suggestions.

      Khop khun khap.

"Phom ruay" will get you lots of smiles.

and just keep answering them "jaaaaa..." and sweet eyes all the time...you'll be all set.

Thanks, noted that one. What does it mean ? I like to have a rough idea what I'm actually saying.

      Phom ruay = I'm rich

When men use "jaaaa" with women it's the same as using the polite ending "khrub," but much sweeter, relaxed, and informal. It doesn't always mean that you are hitting on the person, it's just adds a bit of sugar to whatever you're saying.

Phom ruay could do the trick, but be careful when you pronounce the "R". and be very careful not to mispronounce it with the "K" because that will be totally different meaning and with the "K" it isn't cute.

Try "fundee na ja" .. some say that's kind of cute.

And it depends what tone you use...you might also be saying "i'm a banana!"

"lap fundee na ja" is a good one for sure...hopefully you're saying it in person and no just on the phone

lap fundee na ja = sweet dreams

'Jaaaaaaa' sounds nice I was going to mix it up, throwing a few kaaa's in as well this trip. Just to play with them.

I'm rich ! Well that might work but sounds like it could be an expensive night out, going down that route. Cheers anyway.
