Hey boys and girls. Well, it's time for me to get out of Manila so I can get a new 21-day visa. So I'll be flying to Bangkok on Friday the 24th. I actually posted an event, so anybody who needs an excuse to start drinking early on Friday evening, feel free to sign up.
Ahhhh, can't wait to get back to Bangkok, even if it IS just for 2 nights. Manila is a cool place to be, to be sure, but for me now, Manila = Work. So I'll be looking forward to some R&R in the Land of Smiles. See you in a wee
OK, just a quick recap of the trip so far.
My first time in the Philippines. And the first thing I see upon landing? The Golden Arches of Macdonalds. Followed by "Mabuhay" out of the window of the plane looking at the airport terminal. But once I got in the cab, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a vibrant, lively city, even at 1AM!
As for TF and the internet, there is only 1 major internet cafe in my area in this shopping mall, and it seems that the computers here were built at the same
In 10 minutes I'll be getting on my flight to Manila. Just stopped by the Northwest lounge for a beer and to say goodbye. I won't be on line so much, as I'll be working every day, and as far as I know, there's not Internet in the apartment I'm renting -- but I'll try to stay in touch as much as possible.
Also, I plan to spend a least 2 long weekends in BKK, so I hope to see you all at a TF event when I'm there!

My 2 weeks are over and I'm back in Japan. I went to a few TF parties in BKK and in Pattaya, but mostly just spent time chilling by the beach.
For the entire trip, I stayed at the View Talay condos in Jomtien. Close to the beach, which is where I went pretty much every day. Well, not sitting on the beach, but just sitting reading or working over coffee and laap moo at a beachside restaurant. I can't get enough of the beaches in Thailand -- even the not-so-nice ones like Jomtien.

In spite of living in a quasi-secure condo complex by the beach, somebody broke into my condo this morning. But all they got was 2 cell phones, my wallet with 1 credit card, and my digital camera. So if you are one of the people who has my phone number, don't bother calling. And if you do and somebody picks up, swear at them a lot.

I finally got my ticket for Thailand delivered...at 10:30PM tonight!! Can you believe it! This is one of those things about Japan that I love. Ok, it's Friday night and the delivery guy SHOULD be out drinking beer, but instead, the company sends him to deliver the ticket because I wasn't home on Wednesday. And they don't even accept tips here!!

Google has a new service called googleearth. You can zoom into virtually any place on earth via satellite photos. There's a small download, and you have to have a fairly new computer, but it ROCKS! I just found my old high school on Vancouver Island. Now if only they had a button labelled "Drop Smart Bomb," it would be perfect.

I always thought I was logical, but bad at math. Turns out I'm a total retard at logic, but not bad at math. Having said that, I did this test while teaching an Internet class here at the university -- my students think I'm working on something up front (I have my brow furrowed like I'm solving a problem). Damn, I'm so addicted to this site. I mean, today is theoretically my "research day," yet it's 1PM here in Japan and I'm still sitting in my boxer shorts in front of my computer on TF (at home, not at work , writing to forums, journal postings, answering email and, of course, being a boy vote-*****.
