As some of you know, the 4th of July was the United States 231st. birthday of independence from England. One of the way we celebrate the occasion is with fireworks displays. I would like to share a few pictures of the fireworks desplay where I live. Enjoy.
This internationally famous DJ is making a one night appearance in Bangkok tonight. Show starts at 10PM. This is not an event to miss. This is the first, and probably last, time he'll be spinning discs in Bangkok. Unexpected airline changes made him leave the Tiesto tour, making it possible to hear him, and dance your a**s off.
You'll recognize this picture of him, if you are in the know.
Don't miss the one time only event.
If you've seen my last journal, you know that the town I live in is in the middle of a very destructive forest fire at this time. This is the 3rd day. The fire has now burned 3000 acres. 179 homes are lost so far. There was no wind yesterday giving the firefighters a chance to get 40% of the fire under control. Today the wind came up, and they only managed to get 4% more under control. There are 1200 firefighters here from all over the state, and more arriving daily.
Tomorrow, and the nex
This is not a happy journal, but oh well. Today at 2:00PM, a major forest fire started where I live. There have been 170 homes lost already in the last 12 hours. The fire is only 10% contained, and there are another 500 homes in it's path on the course it's going now. Two of my friends have lost there home so far. Right now my house is 6 miles away, with 2 highways separating me from the fire. Smoke is real heavy all over town. 90% of the tourists in the area have been evacuated. It's n
At a nursing home a group of seniors were sitting around talking about all their ailments. "My arms have gotten so weak I can hardly lift this cup of coffee," said one. "Yes, I know," said another. "My cataracts are so bad I can't even see my coffee." "I couldn't even mark an 'X' at election time, my hands are so crippled," volunteered a third. "What? Speak up! What? I can't hear you! said a fourth. "I can't turn my head because of the arthritis in my neck," said a fifth, to which several nodded

TUNG PHAEN, Thailand — You can take the sugar out of soft drinks and the fat from junk food. But eliminate the pungent odor from what may be the world’s smelliest fruit and brace for a major international controversy.
The durian, a spiky fruit native to Southeast Asia, has been variously described by its detractors as smelling like garbage, moldy cheese or rotting fish. It is banned from many hotels, airlines and the Singapore subway. But durian lovers — and there are many, at least in Asi
REUTERS Video-sharing website YouTube will help Thailand block access to pages that contain clips offensive to His Majesty the King, Information and Communications Technology Minister Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom said yesterday. The idea came in a phone call with a California-based liaison officer for Google Inc, which owns YouTube. The website had refused to pull a clip insulting His Majesty the King, which led the government on Thursday to block access to YouTube entirely. ''He said pulling out tho

I found this quite interesting in what we really don't know about the remote regions of our planet. -- Discover Magazine announced that a highly respected biologist, Aprile Pazzo, has discovered a new species in Antarctica: the hotheaded naked ice borer. The creatures are described as having bony plates on their heads that become burning hot, allowing the animals to bore through ice at high speed -- a technique they use to hunt penguins. Just thought I'd share this with everyone from the news todayWASHINGTON (Reuters) - This has been the world's warmest winter since record-keeping began more than a century ago, the U.S. government agency that tracks weather reported on Thursday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said the combined global land and ocean surface temperature from December through February was at its highest since records began in 1880.A record-warm January was responsible for pushing up the
