Happy birthday

The most important role models in our lives are our parents. Today is Fathers' Day and we pay tribute to His Majesty the King, who is the ultimate role model for all the Thai people and, indeed, for many non-Thais living in Thailand. When I first came to Thailand I admit that I didn't really understand the "king" thing. I knew that he had been king a long time and that his people loved him, but that was about it. Over the years I have come to understand what a remarkable man he is, not least

Travel in Angkor

I have been out of action for a month, traveling with my children. Went to some cool places and got some great pics. First up was Angkor. Simply wonderful. Second was Tonle Sap, an amazing floating village. Third was Ko Chang. And fourth was Kanchanaburi. Some great tiger shots here. I am not going to post the stories in full here as the download time would be too long. So take your pick and I hope you enjoy. There is also a "tongue in cheek" story about Cambodian kids selling souvenirs. You

Dear Sassy RIP

It is with sincere regret that I inform you of the untimely death of our beloved Dr. Sassy. My dear friend Marilyn Monroe returned home last night to find Sassy with her little legs sticking up in the air. We will all miss her. Services will be held later, to include a small meal of rabbit stew. And just in case anyone doesn't get it, I mean Sassy the rabbit for god's sake!

Playing with sex......

If any of u own a website or blog u will probably have come across Google Analytics. I am not a sophisticated user but I do use it to track traffic. I have also been playing with a theory, namely that blogpost titles are very important within search engines. Let's look at the evidence. Keywords Visits % visits sexy art 139 18.12% naked art 74 9.65% worldwidesex.com 12 1.56% www.worldwidesex.com 10 1.30% thaisluts 9 1.17% w

Online privacy

What follows was from MySpace. I'm not completely sure what I conclude from it, but it is interesting. See what u think.MYSPACE: A Must Read for All EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ ALL OF THIS and HAVE CHILDREN READ IT TOO! After tossing her books on the sofa, she decided to grab a snack and get on-line. She logged on under her screen name ByAngel213. She checked her Buddy List and saw GoTo123 was on. She sent him an instant message: ByAngel213: Hi. I'm glad y

Strange airports........

I flew back to Bangkok via Zurich last night.Switzerland is known for its chocolate, watches, banking and....errrrr.....cows. Roger Federer, who is Swiss, is given a cow bu his local commune every time he wins a grand slam tournament. He now has 11 cows.At urich u need to take a shuttle train to go to Terminal E for long distance. I got on teh train and off it goes. It's a 2 minute ride. Suddenly I hear cows mooing. WTF? Yeah...no kidding. Cows on the tracks...well not quite. The dear Swiss have

GPS

I am in Europe and have a lot of journals to write but, for now, a short one.Who has GPS? Isn't it wonderful? It saved my life. I drove to L'Arc de Triomphe using GPS. It was too cool. But.............sometimes it does not work!Today I drove from England to Switzerland, about 1000 kilometers. It's a simple bit very boring drive.........chugging along at around 150 kph, frightening the odcd dickhead with a serious turn of speed.Until I got within 50 km of home. "Attention...ur traffic situation h

Working.....

It is 9.45pm. I have three women still working here....we are doing capex projections which is boring at the best of times. They have set up a new office, in the kitchen. Seems a perfect place......access to table tops, food and drink and close to the toilet. I am being tolerated, no more. I am trying to explain that normally I am naked at this time of night but that doesn't work. I try to get some wine but can't get into the kitchen. #2 girl produces a can opener when I ask for the corkscrew. #

Paying the bills.......

Paying bills is rarely fun but there are funny moments.........  It is not easy to see but this is an invoice for 1 baht. Yes....1 baht.I estimated that it cost me 30 baht to pay the bill and cost True about 50 baht to send and process. Cost of processing is 8000% more than the invoice value. It's not unique to Thailand........it seems to be a common feature of utility companies. In celebration we decided to get the invoice framed. It will go in the toilet.

Picture of the day

For those of u interested (not many!) I set up a new feature on my website called "Picture of the day".  Les Agulles del Pastor 1973 Joan Miro 1893-1983These are my own personal selections. I post the pic and a few words of explanation. Though my passion is modern and post-modern art I intend posting across the ages. I'm not going to bore everybody by posting them here day after day, so if u are interested just go to Picture of the day. Generally speaking these are not pictures I have for sa

Hi speed painted kitties.....

This is going to be one of my more unusual posts. I have an interest in performance and body art. Both are amongst the most ancient of art forms, usually associated with tribal customs, fertility rituals and war. What you are about to see would not be classified as tribal, but it does show body art at perhaps its most unusual.I don't wanna push my luck so if u want to "see" everything go to Painted Kitties. It's worth a look but not for the faint of heart. One picture, in particular, kind of red

Sick buffalos.......

I have been meaning to write this for months but never quite managed to summon the enthusiasm. Well it's Sunday, looks not great outside, Eminem is seducing me....musically....and I have nothing better to do, so.....I think we are all familiar with the Sick Buffalo syndrome. Tatt2dude provides some of the funnier examples on his website. I think I am not allowed to advertise but if u stick www and com either side of tatt2dude u might find something interesting.Generally I have been lucky, perhap

My condoms are too big.......

From the BBC earlier today:  Condoms 'too big' for Indian men By Damian Grammaticus BBC News, Delhi A survey of more than 1,000 men in India has concluded that condoms made according to international sizes are too large for a majority of Indian men. The study found that more than half of the men measured had penises that were shorter than international standards for condoms. It has led to a call for condoms of mixed sizes to be made more widely available in India. The two-year study was ca

An aircon story.......

Much though I love Thailand I do get frustrated sometimes. My pet hate is the Thai banking system which I now refuse to discuss in the interests of good health. While a culture based around the polite article and an attitude of Mai pen rai is charming and gentle, mai pen rai translates a little too often to "who gives a f.u.c.k". Most often I see this in the quality of Thai craftsmanship.Recently I have been having an aircon tussle. It started in a small way, with water pouring out of the air un

Tatt2Dude: King of the bars

If you imagine I am about to write about the Thai bar scene you are right but from an unlikely angle. Tatt2Dude, is an airbrush and tattoo artist based in Bangkok and Pattaya who is moving the art of tattooing from underground to mainstream. I have written before about body art in a story titled Naked Art, but I have never written about tattoos. While many would deny that tattoing has anything to do with art we should remember that "body painting" has been a feature of many cultures for tho

Wet and stuck and beaten........

Did anyone else get stuck on Suhkumvit last night? I sat for 90 minutes trying to get from soi 22 to soi 19. It was a classic Bangkok farce. Not sure if it was the rain or a traffic light failure. The friendly police at the Asok junction declined to leave the warmth of their little office. I guess they did not want to get wet.2 years ago I would have fumed. Now I fume differently.....cigarette smoke! And I come prepared so I read 50 pages of my latest Thai cookbook that sits in my car for just s

In pursuit of nirvana.....

I may be a long way way from reaching my personal state of nirvana but I recently compromised on the path to enlightenment and shipped out of Bangkok for a few days to the beautiful island of Ko Chang and the Nirvana resort. What a beautiful island and what a dream of a resort, well worth a visit if you want to chill down and relax for a few days. Ko Chang is Thailand's second largest island. It is also one of the last undiscovered jewels of this beautiful country. Although developers are

How to make money......

LONDON (Reuters) - A British man celebrated his 100th birthday with 25,000 pounds ($50,000) in winnings on Tuesday after he beat the bookmakers with a wager that he would live for a century.Alec Holden, from Epsom, south west of London, had placed a 100 pound bet with bookmaker William Hill almost 10 years ago that he would live to be 100 years old.The retired engineer said a daily diet of porridge and playing chess was the key to his longevity -- as was remembering to keep breathing."When we st

The girls and I...part 3

U do not want a heartbroken girl working for u. It is really so not cool. Symptoms....The toilet that was occupied is now locked....for 45 minutes.  Eventually unlocked but soon reclaimed. Toilet paper is now tears paper.  Gloom and despondency is the overall mood. I cannot speak, I cannot fart. I am on edge because i know that if i say something i am dead....more tears. More tears...silly mesages in chat. My life has ended. My life...her life...i didn't know she had a bf but, boy, i do now.

She is single, not yet looking; looking for something crazy; lives in Bangkok. Her MSN is [email protected] describes herself as fluffy, cuddly, charming, loving, small and energetic. Her interests include green beans, carrots and grass. She is online most nights after 6pm, when her guardian finishes work.Personally I think she is cut
