Nothing like a warm welcome home

I had to go to Toronto on business this week and our puppy, Star, hates it when either Ked or I are not at home in the evenings. She values her "family time" with Ked and I and gets upset if we're not around to cuddle with. So, I was gone for about 3 days and even when I called home, Star would hear my voice on the phone and start getting all excited. When I was close to getting home I called Ked and told her to grab the camera to capture Star's reaction to me coming home. I love

Coming Back to Thailand

Flights and hotels are booked. Ked and I will be returning to the land of smiles next month for Songkran. Technically, we arrive on the 7th of April but the flight gets in at 11:40pm so I'm calling it the 8th. We'll spend a few days in Bangkok on Soi 11 (which means we'll be at Charley Brown's quite a bit - LOL) and then we're off to Phetchabun for about a week. Then we're back in BKK again for a few days before heading back home. I hope I get to see a bunch of you while we're back. Ma

Did Facebook Change Your Email Address?

Just an FYI if you're using Facebook, they seem to have added a new feature that includes your @facebook.com email address in your profile but now hides your other email addresses. Since most people don't use their @facebook.com email address they might want to change it back so people can get their real email address. 1. Go to your profile page and click on "About." 2. Scroll down to your email addresses and click "Edit" 3. You'll see a little circle with a line through it for emai

What's Apple Got For Us?

If you're into Apple products, Apple's annual developer conference is like porn. Here's what Apple has in store (no pun intended) for us. Next Generation MacBook Pro This one is the one that probably interests me the most. Some are saying that this makes the MacBook Pro the most advanced laptop on the market, period. I'm not sure I agree with that 100% but it's pretty damn impressive. The 15" 220 PPI Retina display should rock. It's not quite as good as the new iPad but the 2880 x1800 dis

Nice Weekend in Florida

Against better advice, I left TF unattended for a few days and took a quick holiday break to Florida. Thankfully, Starmash and Olympos were able to survive without burning the site down. :-) Here's some pics from the trip.

Passing of Dono

The other week before Ked and I took off to Florida for a little holiday, Ked got a message that a former bar owner in Queen's Park Plaza had jumped from one of the buildings on Soi 22 and killed himself. I asked Ked, "Was it Dono?" She asked who it was and her friend confirmed that indeed, the name of the guy was Dono. Why did I guess Dono given no other identifying information than he had owned a bar on in Queen's Park Plaza? I don't even know myself other than the fact that ever since D

TF Has Gone Mobile

We’ve been sitting on the fence for a long time in terms of whether or not we should offer a TF iPhone or Android application. One factor that impacted our decision to keep waiting was that the application we’ve been looking at is somewhat expensive and it’s still getting a lot of bug reports on the company’s message boards. But, being the techno-weenies we are, we couldn’t hold out any more. We’ve launched two different ways to get your TF fix on your Android and iOS mobile pho

Tony "Iron Man" Stark's Car Exposed

If you've seen the Avengers and wondered what model Acura Tony Stark was driving, just like Iron Man himself, the car doesn't actually exist. It was created as a complete custom job for the movie. So Acura must have sent over the coolest concept car they had sitting around, right? Well, not exactly. Stark's ultra high-end sports car began as a 21 year old NSX with 250,000 miles on it. The movie producers called on the services of Trans FX in California to create a kick-ass sports car

Songkran In Los Angeles

Thai Town in Los Angeles is home to more Thai people outside of Thailand than any other place on earth. So, what better place to have a mini-Songkran festival? No water, no splashing, no crazy drunks. It's a really, really toned down version of Songkran but it's nice because they close off an entire section of Hollywood Blvd and local merchants come out and cook up some great food. I had to interesting meet-ups. The first was the ex-girlfriend of a good, good buddy of mine who is now living in

Google Translate for iPhone now speaks in Thai

If you've been waiting for Google Translate to do Thai then fire up your iTunes and get your ass over to the iTunes store and download Google Translate, now with Thai. You can say a sentence in English and get a Thai translation. It also works the other way around from Thai to English.

How Well Do You Speak English?

I was listening to a podcast where some guys were talking about outsourcing to various countries in Asia. They suggested giving prospective employees the following test to determine if their English skills are advanced enough to do the work for them. Since they rely heavily on their employees to write articles and communicate in English their threshold is 80%. Anything below 80% won't even be considered for a job. It's a rather simple test for native English speakers but I'm guessing thi
