The MorningFor some time now friends have been recommending that I visit their sauna on Nanai Road. After months of prodding I made a visit there yesterday. Not a bad deal, sauna and jacuzzi for as long as you want for only 150 Baht.Initially I was alone in the sauna but was soon joined by a young Thai lady wearing the tightest swimming shorts that I had ever seen. The shorts and her bikini made her a sight to behold. She came in and went to the far side of the sauna and laid down on the bench.
Recently, thanks to Facebook, I have been receiving e-mails from some people that I worked with 10 years ago in California. It's nice to hear from some of them as they were good friends of mine that I lost contact with when I retired, moved back home to North Carolina and then on to working abroad. While leaving a restaurant on Nanai Road the other night, I was sitting on my motorbike waiting for my friend, Dan to get on his bike. I heard this loud crash behind me and was suddenly pushed forward by a drunken Burmese who had crashed into two parked motorbikes and then me.I landed on my left side, nearly breaking my foot and cutting my leg in several places. As mentioned in my previous journal, whilst Nina was here last weekend we made a trip to the Phuket Aquarium at Cape Panwa on the Southern most tip of the island.The ride down there was quite nice, stopping at the Cape Panwa view point for some picture taking.The aquarium is small but quite nice. They have added a nature trail where visitors can view the fish hatchery, sea turtle breeding tanks and tour the large marine research vessel. Although it is small Nina and I spent about 4 hours there.
Sadly my long weekend is over now. The lovely Nina arrived early Friday evening and left on the last flight to BKK on Monday night. As usual, we had a great time exploring around the island, visiting the Phuket Aquarium and relaxing on the beach. One Year Anniversary
Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of our bar here in Phuket. It has been a fun year and business has been good. We have made some very good friends with people here in our area and with many of the customers. Many of them keep visiting us upon their return to Phuket. We are having a birthday party for a friend of ours tomorrow so if any Phuket Tfers or any Tfer visiting Phuket this week want to drop in, you are more than welcome.

The Toilet Mafia
There is a vacant lot behind our bar that is mainly used as a car park. It is named Pee Pee Island as that is where many customers and business owners go pee to avoid the 3 Baht fee at the toilets here.
A few months ago one of the toilet was purchased by a Thai man. He kept the fee the same but does little in the way of maintaining the toilets. He felt that he was losing money but could not understand why. This guy took to following customers from the bars near him in order
Porn and Pool

Porn is an employee that has been with us since we opened the bar. She pretty much runs the bar and she does it very well. She is probably one the few people that I trust here. She is married to an Australian friend of mine.

Rasta Dogs
As mentioned previously, the Rastas have four dogs that they care for. In watching them, even though they run in a pack, they each have their own personalities.

Well... They ping pong table is back. I guess they had it stored away as someone sat on it and broke it. It is now mainly used as a dog pen for their new Shitzu puppy. The pup sits on there all day and runs around the table for exercise. He's an inquisitive little guy that has wandered into my bar on occasion. This is the only way that they can control him.

Next to my bar is the Rasta Bar. It is Thai owned by a group of guys that truly believe that the Rastafarian culture originated here in Thailand. I really enjoy the weather here in Phuket, whether it's in the wet season or dry season. Today is pretty hot, ith a clear cloudless sky and a brutal sun shining down. The only thing that I do not like about hot days like today is that it causes the fat, bloated tourists to walk about the area in various stages of undress. Ugh.
