Worst massage ever.

Just got back from having what was by far the worst massage I have ever had in twenty years of coming to Thailand. There are always some that are not so good, but this one was just plain BAD!! I was going to go to Healthland Asoke, but was tired, and it is always a wait, so I decided to try a place just along from my hotel in Soi 19, called Reflex. I knew almost the second she started that this was not going to be a good one. The girl didn't have a clue. Most of it consisted of her digging her

Airport Train (Part 2)

After trying the City Line a couple of weeks ago, today I thought that I would try the Express Line from the airport into BKK (Makkasan). 90 baht one way. The first drawback is the frequency the train runs, i.e. every 35 mins, which means quite a wait if you just miss one. I had a twenty minute wait. It normally takes me about 40 mins in a taxi door to door the hotel in Soi 19. The Express train is more comfortable, and far less busy than the City Line one, which seems to be used by commuters

Airport Train.

I used that airport train for the first time this morning. Its pretty cool. Well, it was for me, travelling with no luggage. I must admit, I wouldn't like to be lugging heavy bags up and down those stairs. Probably why it seems to be used more by commuters than tourists. Flew in from Samui to do some shopping, and thought that I would give it a try. Landed 10:35, and was in MBK by 11:35. Took the line to Phaya Thai, then changed. Did MBK, Pantip and Central World. Coming back went from Ra

Stinking rich: Walker finds whale vomit 'worth £100,000' on Morecombe beach.

It smells like horse manure and looks like a dirty beach rock but this lump of ‘floating gold’ could pocket one man over £100,000. The unusual ‘stone’ is believed to be a piece of rare and valuable whale vomit, or ambergris, an in-demand ingredient used in perfumes such as Chanel No.5. Lancashire resident Ken Wilman discovered the 3kg lump while out walking his boxer dog Madge on Morecambe beach. ‘I didn’t actually realise what it was at first, I couldn’t understand why Madge w

86 vs 26

Looks like someone started off the new year with a big smile on his face. I wonder how she will ever find the energy to keep up with him: Playboy boss HUGH HEFNER has wed his girlfriend CRYSTAL HARRIS. The 86 year old publishing tycoon and 26-year-old Harris exchanged vows at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, California on Monday (31Dec12). The excited bride kept fans updated about her big day with posts on Twitter.com; in one she wrote, "Today is the day I become Mrs. Hugh Hefner. Feelin

There's a snake in ma hoose!

[h=1]Terrifying snake is actually draught excluder[/h] [h=2]Scottish SPCA called in to deal with beast[/h] Posted by DominicBrookman 03 April 2012 13:59 A bit of late-lunchtime levity now, in a story that's being picked up by many news sites online. A woman at her home in Kingswells, near Aberdeen, had a nasty shock when she found a 5ft-long snake in her loft - not what you want when you're trying to do the housework. After a quick phone call the Scottish SPCA came to the rescue, using their

Northern Lights over U.K.

Normally only seen much further north. Due to strong solar flare activity, the Northern Lights, aka Aurora Borealis have been visible over much of northern England and Scotland the past few nights. Not sure if I posted this before, but part of a BBC documentary where Joanna Lumley searches out the Northern Lights. Watch the part from about 4:30 where the "Lights" appear:
