My experience teaching in Thailand

I have to say that it's been fun with many surprises. I've always wanted to be a teacher since sometime in college, but the money factor (or lack thereof) was always the main problem. As I had mentioned in an earlier blog, I set up my businesses to basically run on their own, or so I thought, and got a part-time teaching job at a bi-lingual school near my house. It was really an awesome experience. I taught English and started a small music program with violins, guitars and cellos. In this sch

Little Feet - 22 Our Moo Baan

I went on a nice early evening stroll with Jasmine, which is always enjoyable. The clips below show the entrance to our community. Out at the top of the main road is craziness with the usual Thai roads, vendors, 7/11's, and a soon to be skytrain station (woot woot), so turning in to go home is mind clearing to enter "the oasis". Jasmine loves being outside. Since all my neighbors ask me, I'll answer this before you watch. No, I'm not afraid of her becoming black, lol. Little Feet

Learning Billie Jean on cello

I have been listening to those two guys playing billie jean all day on youtube, and I love it. While on a run earlier, I decided that I'd give it a shot after a shower. Here's the beginning... I doubt that I'll ever getting around to recording the entire thing, but this evening has been fun thanks to that video's inspiration.

Smooth Criminal - Nasty Cello

One time...at band camp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlVbEclPj4c And just had someone show me this one...not something that non-classical music lovers would like, but it's hilarious for me. In the symphony you'd see violins playing around pretending their violin was a cello, but nothing like this:

Goodnight TF'ers

Here's a nice song to relax to before sleeping. Pretty cool mix with a cello and a saw.

My Tribute to Tiger

Some people hate Tiger now because he was born a man, but I still love the guy. You're a millionaire, Tiger! No need to keep your pants on. Anyway, here is a sweet hook shot from right to left to set up for a birdie: And then his all time best putt that made the Nike execs wet their pants: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfXi37Ljrrk And then his hole in one last year at Augusta: Ya can't hate someone so great...right m8?

Little Feet - 21 Changes in my life

I've had an interesting week to say the least. Actually, this month has been a big change since Jeab is now working full-time, and I really do feel like a stay at home Daddy 40+ hours a week. If her mother wasn't here the other 120+ hours, I don't know how we could handle it without help. Just like any other time, now is a very interesting time to watch Jasmine develop. She's beyond being aware of her surroundings, and is now interacting with us more and more. She can roll over and sit up a b

Little Feet 20 - At the Kawada Zoo

I love these days. I wake up at 9, spend most of the day in my boxers, and play around with Jasmine. Her personality is coming out more and more each day, and I enjoy playing silly games with her. Jeab has opened up her new salon in Huay Kwang, and is there 6 days a week. Since we don't want a stranger nanny for the first year, her mom has been a huge help by taking care of Jasmine when both of us aren't around. She is a wonderful grandmother, and can't get enough of Jazz. Onto the zoo...not m

SuperBowl in Bangkok

So it's the Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers for SuperBowl XLV. We usually head to Bully's bright and early in the morning to watch the game, and this year will be no different. For anyone who is crazy enough to get out to watch America's biggest day in sports with us, kickoff is at 6:30 AM, and I will try to get there around 6:00 AM for Bully's SuperBowl Buffet. Bully's is on Sukhumvit Road between sois 2 and 4. SuperBowl in Bangkok Predictions??

Ray William Johnson Vlog

This guy might actually be the most popular guy on YouTube. That's a big exclamation, but it's probably true. Basically, all he does is review other youtube videos. If you watch one or two of his videos, he's not incredibly impressive, but he grows on you. I now wait for his next release, which happens every 3 days or so. He's jokes are very American, so if you don't like or understand American humouuuur, this might be the last time you watch one of his videos. Anyway, let me know what you th

Arabian Nights *pics*

Some TF'ers put on a great show at our school last night. The director threw us a party, and some people got on stage to put on performances. Arabian Nights was my favorite. Lucyliu and zcel worked hard on putting it together, practicing, and performing...it was a pretty sweet show by everyone involved. Here are a few pics and a video:

Ties to Thailand

Before I came to Thailand, I knew next to nothing about the country. I was coming to get a year of international finance experience and then get out. I didn't even know that Thailand had a monarchy. I had one client at the time who was a Thai medical doctor. This guy ended up getting me into the Ministry of Finance where I worked for a few years. I later learned that I had much closer ties to Thailand than I had previously known. His Majesty The King Bhumipol Adulyadej was born at my father's

TF New Years Party!

This year's party WILL be held at the Australian Pub and BBQ on Sukhumvit Soi 11. It's before Bed Supper Club on the opposite side of the street. Since I am in the USA at the moment, fellow half breed Flipamerican will be the smiley host. Chris is a nice guy once you get a couple beers in him...so if you don't like him, buy him a beer and wait 20 minutes. I'll be there in spirit and I'll check out the photos from cold cold Boston. TF New Years Countdown Please stay safe, and... Happy New Y

Little Feet 19 - Baby's First Christmas

The flight from Bangkok to Boston was long, but not too bad. It lasted a good 24 hours, and Jasmine cried during 2 takeoffs out of 3 and 0 landings out of 3...not too shabby. For the most part, she ate and slept. 3 hours into the first flight I was burping her, and she threw up an entire bottle onto my shirt, which subsequently dripped down to my pants and onto my socks. Nice start. I changed shirts and saw that Jeab had packed one extra t-shirt on top of the polo that I had packed. We landed i

It's kind of hard to explain this app, but here is the Inception homepage explanation plus a review on one of the app's levels. Pretty cool stuff:   Hans Zimmer talks about Inception The App from RjDj on Vimeo.

Bow (äËÇé) to the Christmas Tree

Christmas trees are everywhere in Thailand, despite the country being 90+ percent Buddhist. Thais are just cool like that...if it's a fun holiday, they are happy to join the party. My best friend and I started this thing a few years ago where we make a culture "fusion" of sorts. Anytime we are within 10 feet of a Christmas tree (give or take a bit depending on tree size), we stop, we connect our own hands together over our heads in the shape of a Christmas tree, and bow (äËÇé) to the tr

Happy Birthday, eagle

Eagle or Jerry is one of those "unsung heroes" that we have. He is one of my favorite posters on here because he is always consistent and isn't a flip flopper like many of us. On top of all of that, he is the most level-headed mod or Admin that we have. He stays true to keeping the world clean and safe, and to Jerry I'd like to extend a HUGE...   HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

KillerTrain Fail

This guy is too awesome.   And then there is this other guy in New York that saved another guy after he fell onto the tracks because he "didn't want to let another stupid mofo make him late for work."
