YOUTUBE.COM blocked again?????"We're sorry this video is no longer available."

While on a visit to a good friend of mine, and trying to access some videos on youtube.com I have been informed that TOT in its infinate wisdom has taken it upon itself to block ALL youtube.com videos and give a polite messge that states. "We're sorry this video is no longer available." rather than "We're sorry but you ain't gonna see S*^T" I know there is stuff on youtube that is pretty stupid and some will find offensive, and living here I can understand even blocking a video about the roya

Thai Morality ? The Hole in the Dyke by Andrew Hicks (not me)

This is not a Khun Sateeb original but I liked it so I have included it.Before the Loy Kratong festival at the end of the rains when romantic kratons, floats (kratons) of banana leaf are launched on rivers and waterways at night, carrying away the past year’s sins, there always seems to be a media frenzy in the newspapers about teenage sex. For some obscure reason it’s become fashionable for young and very young lovers to surrender their virginity on festivals such as Valentine’s Day and loy kra

Songkran

Well it is that time of the year again when people of Thailand (falang included) become complete f-ing fools, drive like idiots, yell, scream, waste water, get blind drunk, and act stupid.  OK maybe that happens all year round but this is the time of year that even the drunks will say, "ok, I over did it a bit."  I have been here for the past 4 years and every year everyone who is living in Thailand complains about the festival. Those that come as tourists either love it or hate it.  I think tha

i can not make this up

BANGKOK (AFP) - Thai police on Monday started distributing "super sour" sweets blessed by a Buddhist abbot in the hope of curbing road accidents by keeping motorists awake with the lip-puckering treats. Police began distributing 140,000 of the hard sweets ahead of the Buddhist New Year celebrations that run over five days starting Friday. It's the most important holiday and biggest party time in Thailand, but also a time of carnage on the highways due to the heavy incidence of drunk driving

Driving in Thailand RULES OF THE ROAD

While trying to figure out why there are so many deaths during Songkran (the government is trying to keep the number under 400 this year) I found this to be the best explanation RULES OF THE ROAD IN THAILAND In order to successfully drive a motor vehicle in Thailand you must understand the transportation gestalt in an entirely different way. Definitions which you once thought were above definition will be immediately re-defined. Please note the following: THE ROAD The road includes not

Tom Yam Gung, watch it don?t eat it.

Tom Yam Gung, watch it don?t eat it. If you are looking for a recipe you are in wrong place. This is a review of the new movie. The elephants tendons are the four spots soldiers protect and the elephants die. If you don?t want to know the ending to this movie you should not read the previous sentence. Have to admit Thailand is getting better at making action movies. This is comparable to many Kung Fu movies(yes I know this is not Kung Fu but Meuy Thai) I have seen in the past. Many stunts

Thai TV really great stuff!!!

So being born in the early seventies I was a child of television. I actually remember having only 5 channels to watch one was a local crap station (which did so really cool dubbed Godzilla movies) and one was the PBS station. As a young kid PBS was the best of the bunch because it had The Electric Company (sorry if you don?t know this show you are missing out) and Sesame Street. Also my family had ?the old black and white? and that was the set I had to go and watch if my father was watching a

Thai music can be divied into these catagories 1. crap 2. sucks 3. lame

So after living here 2 + years and taking 8 months of intensive Thai classes and having an ex girlfriend that spoke little English so I had to practice. I finally decided to take apart 20 Thai songs. These songs were not chosen in any particular way except that they were songs that I recognized upon hearing. Meaning I have either heard it on the radio/in a pub/or god forbid a karaoke. As an aside these are my views on Karaoke. 1. Karaoke proves that 95% of the population can not sing wort

WOW I am missing nothing!!!!!

So today I was thinking that I have now lived in Thailand for about 2 and a half years and that I know nothing about the current hip/cool music in America. When I was a kid I used to get up and listen to the radio every Saturday morning Top 40 show just so I knew all of the cool songs. I had no idea who half the artist were on the current charts so I did what every red blooded internet user would do and that was download everyone of the songs and give them a listen(RIAA you can relax I deleted

What luck I have!!!!

So I got a new car (OK maybe not new but new for me) nice silver CRV and i think maybe had it for 1 week before I leave it in my condo parking lot at night and go upstairs for some RandR. About 45 minutes later there is a knock at the door and it is a nice security man that says hey your new car just rolled out of the spot it was parked in and about 15 meters into a wall that is made of volcanic rock. To which my very calm and collect response to was "What the F*%&$_)_^^)(*^!!!!!!" I walk
