Belgian food

I made 'Gentse Waterzooi' (from the city of Gent in Belgium) yesterday. It's kind of a soup with big pieces of vegetables (lot of leek, carottes, onion, potatoes and I putted also peas). Most of the time they put a complete chicken in it, but I prefer pieces of it. I poured it out and putted celerie and some light cream to finish. God, it was delicious.

I know you're gonna hate me for this

My freezer has to be cleaned soon and I decided to finish all what was still in it. I know you going to hate me for that, but I really like rabbit. We have some national dishes based on it. One of the most popular here is rabbit with prunes, but I decided to make a classic stew of it.For sensitive people don't go any further this is the rabbit already cleanedPut pepper, salt and maybe a little bit of some other spices on the pieces of meat and roll it in flour.Put it in a pan and bake it till it

Jim Jum at home

In our family there are a few bachelors and we have the nice habit to come together from time to time for a nice dinner and a chat. It was my turn and I invited my 2 brothers and 1 friend (nearly a brother) for a real Asian evening. It started with a Pina colada (I know it's not really Asain, but it's exotic at least), then nems (small loempîa's) as a starter and the main dish was Jim Jum and we finished with coffee and an ice cream with pieces of mango. They loved the Jim Jum (tiger prawns, squ

Weekend in Antwerp

Last weekend we had an extra day free and I went to Antwerp for a long weekend visiting my mate Kenny (Kennicke) and his son Yannick (my willing models for using my new camera) and take a stroll through the annual fair. Of course I used my new camera  Saturday30 may: The trainstation of Leuven   Arriving in Antwerp    Inside the train station of Antwerp   Going to the fair  And of course first a drink in the really nice weather, it'll be not the last one   Yannick shooting tanks  and throwing w

pics with my new camera

Just got my new camera, an Olympus E420, and I decided to try it out last weekend. The weather was fine, so I went for it. It was so long ago that I worked with a reflex camera, still an analogue one, and this one has so many more possibilities and features. So don't look to much at the quality. Leuven, my home town The Town Hall of Leuven, Belgium, is a landmark building on that city's Grote Markt (Main Market) square, across from the monumental St. Peter's Church. Built in a Brabantine Late

Update of my travel to Asia

I arranged my holiday in Thailand. Arriving at 9th October and flying immediately to Chiang Mai. From 29 October till 2 November I'll be in BKK for celebrating my best friend's Birthday (Kenny). On 2 November till 13 November travelling to Bali. And on 18 November back to Brussels.Because I have a longer holiday I decide to do a part of Indonesia again. I visited Sumatra years ago. I found a good ticket with Asia Air. Only 5.150 Tb two ways (I hope so ). All flights are booked and paid. I only h

My Easter

Another Belgian mini-TF event Almost two weeks I'm home with a sore back (again). Not much distraction, because I wasn't able to sit a long time on the computer and had to go and lay down. I was happy Kenny (Kennycke) and his son Yannick came here for the weekend. Geert (monkyman couldn't join, he was at the sea shore). Kenny did the garden because I couldn't do it with my back. After that we did a BBQ. Although it wasn't that warm we ate outside on my 'terrace'. Kenny at the BBQ (but he love

I just sent a V kiss

Because I can't not comment on Thaisugarbaby's journal for whatever reason. But I still can make a comment here (freedom of speech . Maybe you'll block me now completely because I'm a bald, old man and defintly for that reason a sextourist. For the same reason, I and some others can call you a golddigger, maybe you aren't, but that's just an assumption like you made one in the other direction. Anyway I sent you a virtual kiss, but be sure it's harmless as you don't fit in my target group.Maybe

Mini-TF event Belgium ----- my Birthday

Because I became 57 on 15 March this year. Kenny (Kennycke), Yannick and Geert (Monkyman) found this a good reason to come to my place. So I wasn't crying all day because of being lonely . It was a nice and (drunk) weekend. With Thai food and of course many drinks. At the restaurant at my place 'Siam': Kenny, Geert and me    Kenny, Yannick and Geert    Yannick and his mother Cindy, she picked them up at my hometown     There're evidence from later in the evening that'll show later. My music archive

A band I found back in my archives, looking through them, was Tjens Counter and TC Matic, both with front man Arno. Who later started solo and became a legend in Frenchspeaking countries countries. Although he was Flemish a made a lot of French songs. From 'Belgian Pop & Rock Archives:The passage across the boundaries becomes a fact (they tour all around Europe and play Pinkpop, Roskilde, France, Germany ...) but never becomes a huge success. Only in Scandinavia the group develops a followin

Time for punk

Found this back when putting some music (vinyl and CD's on my computer). I know you 'Britts' gonna have some remarks on it. But at that time we had fun going to their concerts. They never made big money, but they enjoyed every bit of it. Put the volume on 10. Their most welkmown song (in Belgium at least). and live they were great: The Kids Biography There are more than one band with this name: 1) The kids are a punk rock band based in Antwerp, Belgium. They were one of the first gr

Nice Dutch guys in Pai

Last November when I was in Pai, I met some nice guys from The Netherlands. Very young guys and I'm sure you, Thai ladies, will find them hot guys  . I gave them my email adress and now I got a nice mail  from them (they found my mailadd back in their bags later) with a link to their blog.  They were travelling for several months through Asia, but seems always to come  back to Thailand for a more relaxing time on the beach or in the North. We mostly spend the evenings together because these guys

The right pronounciation

I found this site on the web. It can be very useful if you don't know how to pronounce a word or sentence correct. It's supporting a lot of languages, even Chinese and Basque. Pity no Thai. You can even learn how to speak Irish English (and maybe understand them later too ).It's very simple: chose your language, just type the word or sentence and push on 'say it'. you can also chose in some languages different kinds of pronouncation like Dutch (Belgium) and Dutch (The Netherlands). It's an easy

Pai from the sky

I visited Thailand in November 2008. As always I headed for a few weeks to the North and Chiang Mai. Bruce had the good idea to visit Pai. Which I can recommend to everyone if you're in the North.Because Bruce left earlier and I wanted to stay a  few days longer I decided to take a plane back to Chiang Mai. I know that the windy toad down to Chiang Mai is worth the 3 to 4 hours on a bus, but I'v' done that before. And I wanted to go for something different. It' was a long time ago that I did fly

The Belgian connection: a mini TF-event

2 weeks ago I spoke with Kenny (Kennyke) on MSN and if we asked each other what we were planning on New Year's Eve, we both answered staying home. And Kenny, good fellow as he's, invited me to celebrate together at his place. And so after working I took my bag and went to Antwerp. It was a nice evening. We ate 'gourmet' and drank 'some' beer. Yannick drank Coca of course. Later we shared and looked at the photo's of our visit in November and had a lot of fun. Thanks Kenny and Yannick for the fin

Very late, but never too late

Thanks to all my friends, old and new, Fallang and Thai for the very nice and warm welcome in Thailand. My very first night was already a great experience with the loykratong-festival.  Not to forget the party on 14 November (more there all enough pics put on here) I enjoyed as always my stay in Chiang Mai and the North. Especially the splendid dinner around the lake with Nok, Nettie and Bruce. The beautiful landscape of Pai.  Another visit to remember and to come back to Thailand again.
