identifying an individual can be more accurate when associated with a specific point of space and time. Based on this, I would argue that identity is not a fixation but rather a continual transformation of ?being?. Furthermore, when an individual creates repetition in decision-making as they maintain their being, patterns arise.

I would argue that identity in some senses may be considered as a history of an individual. An individual?s history, when legitimized, can be presented in the form of stereotype. Repetition and pattern come together continually to help recognize the individual?s certain ways of being and reinforce the initial stereotype of the individual. Hence, a semi-fixation identity is formed.

My further observation is that, in the process of identifying an individual, words are employed in order to describe a mental model of identification. Once words are used, this suggests that whatever words are used become a representation of meaning. Another way of saying this is that humans use language to be symbolic of meanings to present a set of ideas. This hypothesis leads me to my conclusion that the use of words, in order to identify an individual, gives us a stereotype of that individual rather than that which is considered ?identity?.

Yes identity does exit, but that identity may change from time to time as people adapt to their environment and other external factors.....

Does the sterotype that you mention evolve to take into the consideration such adaptation of the charactoristics of identity? I'd guess not - so judging from the past things that you wrote, I'm gonna call you donut-girl! ;o)

"In my belief, identity is rooted in the way which one tries to describe an individual and perceptually identify what that individual is, at a certain time."

Do you mean by the individual him/herself, or by another individual? I think identity, like truth is fluid, and as you say, the meeting of this temporal fluidity and the perception-based truth of other individuals leads to many cocked up ideas about who I/you/others really are. We tend to need quick references as humans, and locating someone as a bit player in our reality plays greatly into this. And yeah, who asked the drunken muppet?

yeah people change over time. the attitude, views towards this and that may also be changed/developed over time. but there's a core of who you are. you're not gonna change dramatically. so i think that core can be used as to base your identity on...

Paul- I couldn't imagine which one...??? Your pic reminds me of this 50's print ad that I saw recently where it said, 4 out of 5 doctors recommend *** brand of cigarettes. lol And, if I were blue and 3 ft tall, I would be just blotto all day long too.

one of the reason that i believe that identity does not exist is because i cannot identify myself. when i tried, what came up was that i changed myself fluidly according to who or what i was interacting with.

it's not the case of conformation or pretentious, it's rather the stage of 'being'.

the 'being' transforms all the time regarding the surrounding.

when visualizing this, identity is a free radical that capable in shifting its shape and form. identity is soft and is shapen by environment at each particular space and time.

Atomic, i think what you say is true, and researchers from such varied fields as particle physics to sociology also state that in the very act of obsevation, the subject under observation no longer remains a pure subject, as it has developed a relationship with the observer. We act like this all the time, changing ourselves constantly to adapt to our surroundings. For instance, I'm a lot more boring now than usual he he, but some may disagree, and say i'm boring all the time.
