I have recieved a yellow card for "inappropriate behavior". I think i know why but if this is the reason i was only standing up for a newbie as he was being bullied by another member. The other member who will remain nameless for now posted a "witty" comment about the newbie poster. I dont think i deserved this warning and if a TF Mod could just quickly explain to me why i received this i would be very thankful.

I guess you've missed an important point here... There is one set of rules for us "ordinary" members, and a completely different set for the "gang of four", those with 1200 post or more...

They can say whatever they choose to, use any foul language, without any reactions from the mods... Sad but true

I've given up the battle and learned to live with it..

What's regarded as bullying to most people is "witty" to the Gang of Four. Unless you stand up for yourself against them, then the cards start flying.. Go figure...

Asking questions is also regarded "whining"

and don't EVER start a forum thread that's already been discussed, regardless if it was closed 18 months ago.. That's considered a cardinal sin to some..

But hey, don't let that stop you from enjoying yourself here! In my experience 95% of the people in here are both polite and nice!

I have to agree with a lot of what has been said above.This is what is says on the TF homepage;

"Create your own profile and connect with thousands of Thai Girls and Guys around the world. It has never been easier to make new friends online.

Upload photos, create a journal, announce a party, meet Thai girls and guys, or chat live with someone new! A powerful, safe and simple way to be seen in Bangkok and everywhere else TF members are!"

"meet Thai girls and guys"

So if a guy makes a post saying he wants to meet girls, no matter how badly it may be worded, who should anyone think they are to take the piss out of him??

Before you know it, all the 'Tf buddies club' have joined in and the post results in them exchanging banter with each other!...I've seen it so many times now.

Rookies are there to be ridiculed and it seems to be all about how many Bangkok years you have under your belt!!

What is this site all about now??

I assumed you'd go back and read the thread you'd posted to, so I didn't PM you. The explanation is in the thread:

http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=DB_phpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=9233&sid=51fe506a96a9d4a181a1dd401afa2515&&sid=51fe506a96a9d4a181a1dd401afa2515

Feel free to support new members, but abuse is abuse and it will be treated the same regardless of who says it or whom it's directed at. And you'll note that you were not the only person to get a card for this one.

As for the concept that the "old boys" on the site get cut more slack, well, yeah, they probably do for some things. But that's usually because they've participated more, and they are known quantities to the membership and the mods. Likewise, older members can get cards and temporary bans more easily than newbies, because we expect that somebody who has been on this site for a few years should know the rules. We very often cut newbies slack for not knowing some of the more obscure rules of conduct.

History can affect a mod's decision, and until we're replaced by machines, this will probably continue. But believe me: anybody can get busted and banned for being an idiot on this site. We have a long list of banned members who got a bit too comfortable with the idea that they were "above the law," so to speak. Eventually we just tire of dealing with repeat idiots and pull the plug. So have no fear, we try to be fair, newbie or old guard alike.

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Hey Please be kind and gentle to the newbie we come here for friendship right ?? or we come here for getting the other person nervousness. if you don't agree with something take deep breath and think it's not your business and go away. see no need to make anyone feel bad.

Stay cool and relax.

Beejoir because of posts like that i got my ban. But if making myself look like a massive ***** will help other members post a bit more then really i aint bothered what you say because posting something like that makes you look like a keyboard warrior.

I just wanna thank the mods and other members for posting on my journal here because it has brought up the fact that although the membership on TF is strong, people dont want to contribute because they will get ridiculed by some idiot. I hope this does make a difference with the other members and it can become Thailand "Friends" again.
