Can anyone tell me the true meanings or history about this? I'm a little confused as to the original meanings? Some say it's:

   Thailand New Years?

   To respect past loved ones?

   To wish for rain for the harvest?

   To splash everyone with water?

   Etc,etc,etc???

In Hawaii, the Thai Association sell colorful decorated paper floated candles to place in the ocean, they told me that this is to pay respect to passed love ones and present loved one too, is that correct?
