Hi everybody! Sorry I've  been away from TF so much. I've had people send me PMs about TF problems, but I didn't have a decent connection, so I wasn't any help as a moderator at all. Sorry about that. So where the hell was I?For the last week, I've been in Bohol, in the middle of the Philippines, about an hour south of Manila. I flew to the small city of Tagbilaran on Bohol island on the 20th. I took a taxi over the bridge to Panglao Island. My destination was Alona Beach, about 40 minutes drive from the Airport.1Alona.jpgMy purpose was mostly just to get some work done in nice surroundings. I'd had a horse riding accident the week before (my leg still looks like hamburger), so I couldn't go in the water, and couldn't dive :( But from what I heard, the diving there isn't great at all, so I don't understand why the beach is basically a long line of diving resorts. For those interested, the going rate for a fun dive (if you already have your certification) is about $40, give or take. Although I had a work schedule, it was almost impossible to keep, since people are just so friendly in the Philippines. Case in point: I was working on the beach one night over dinner, and this group of tourism students from Mindanao approached me. It seems they had the assignment to interview some tourists and see what we thought about the level of tourism in the Phillipines. The interview led to a long discussion about life in general, and a few photos. So much for work.2group1.jpgAnd although it's the same group, the sunset on the beach bears repeating.3group3.jpgBut I did get SOME work done. This next pic is from the beachside tables at the place I was staying. They were the only place on the beach with espresso, so I'd have about 3 of them, a few banana shakes, lunch, and before I knew it, I'd have 4 hours of work done. The place I stayed was called Lost Horizon, and I'd highly recommend it to anybody staying on Alona. The resorts there are typically WAY overpriced, and the general level of accommodation and service sucks ass. But this place has large, clean rooms, great staff and a great location -- and at 2,600 pesos (about 2000Baht) for the standard bungalow, they were the cheapest on the beach for what they offered. If you are planning to hit Bohol, PM me and I can give you their details. Anyway, how is this for an office location ;)4work.jpgI did do some sightseeing, most notably the all day tour around Bohol Island, featuring the Chocolate Hills shown below. If you go, you shouldn't pay more than 1,800 to 2,000 pesos for the trip, although they will usually start by offering their "special price" of 2,500 pesos. You start at the Chocolate Hills, move to the suspension bridge over the river, then it's the lunch cruise on the floating restaurant up to the water falls, then you go see the tarsiers. There was some other stuff too, but I told the driver to head home as it was already getting late. The highlight was the Chocolate Hills, and the low point was the tarsier cage. The ones you see getting shown around the bars in BKK are way cooler. Still, the trip is well worth the time and money!5CHills.jpg6bananas.jpgBut the real reson I got no work done???7sanmig.jpg

Wow, thanks for all the comments! Cocoa, I'll get on that "world's worst horse falls" journal as soon as I get the pics from the guy who took pics while I was screaming in pain from getting rubbing alcohol sprayed down on the wound. lol Anyway, if you guys like the pics, you really should go. The Philippines is truly an awesome place!
