Just curious if anyone knows some good ways to get to Samet from Bangkok. Can you get the bus there from Ekamai? I am trying to check out some ways to get there. I know its about 200 kilometers from Bangkok. If I have to take the bus there I will but it is about a 3 hour ride. I tried looking to see if any flights go there but couldn't find any. All I found was Krabi. I have always wanted to see either Samet or Samui. I think this year I will check out Samet. I already have a ticket for phuket the weekend after that.Smile

Not really into the mini buses. I tried it once and will pay the extra to avoid that. I guess if you are young and want to save money thats the way to go. However I don't want to spend most of my time on the mini bus instead of the beach.

Noooooooo Samet is NOT 200km. from Bangkok. Takes only about 2 hours to the docks.

Yes, there are busses from the Ekamai station but make sure you take the bus to Ban Pae. If yu go to Rayong you'll have a pricey ride to the docks.

And have others have suggested there are van/minibus options. From Victory Monument also.

Okay so I think I will take a bus from Ekamai to Ban Phe. Thanks for the info but I thought Ranong was closer? Every website I see they have Ranong listed for Samet and not Ban Phe. Also every Samet website says it is about 200 kilometers from Bangkok. Any how once I get to Ban Phe where do I get the ticket for the ferry to go to Samet?

Cool thanks so much Naut.Sirius. I am definitely going to check it out. I have a nice trip planned out. Pattaya the first weekend, Samet the second weekend and then Phuket for the last weekend.

I agree with Khun_lung ka. If you live close to Victory Monument, lets take a minibus near the area of Pong lee restaurant. Its very comfortable minibus and very fast, cost only 200 Baht...
