In a previous journal I told you that I have a condition called edema. It is swelling of the legs and body cavity caused by fluid buildup in the tissue.I would love to tell you that my condition is improving, but in fact it is getting worse and quite rapidly. Many of the daily tasks I used to be able to do myself I can no longer do and have to rely on help. The edema has causes extreme weakness in my legs and standing up from a sitting position is becoming more and more of a problem. I can no longer shower without help. I can no longer sit to use the toilet without help standing up. Walking is also a big problem. Very soon I may need 24 hour care. And I can tell you that taking a dump without being able to sit on the toilet takes considerable creativity! heheheThe doctors have tried various medications, but none have helped so far. Next week I will probably go to the hospital and they will insert a syringe into my abdominal cavity in order to drain fluid. This will make me more comfortable, but treats the symptom and not the cause and is only temporary, lasting only about 3 weeks. And it is a very painful procedure. Can the edema be reversed? Yes, with the right combination of drugs and treatment. But until now that has proven very elusive.Because my health continues to worsen, I have been spending less time on TF and most likely I will not be online as much as before, though on good days I may be around as usual. I just don't have the energy to read many forums or journals. If you want to know more, PM me.Oh, and visitors  here are always welcome!

With all due respect, people, "Get well soon" is something I don't want to hear! It's not going to happen and although I know you have good intentions, I find it a quite irritating. I am not going to be well soon.

ThePunisher: Well, I won't be going to Koh Samed in any event. But yeah, I'm trying to beat it.

afook06: Hmmmm...not sure what pic you mean. Giles in a nurse's uniform? God forbid!

Steven80: Yeah, I miss the parties too!

Ni2508: Alternative medicine is not something that interests me. I'll keep playing along with the docs for now.

"Can the edema be reversed? Yes, with the right combination of drugs and treatment. But until now that has proven very elusive." why is the right treatment elusive? Is it not available in Thailand? Surely Bumrungrad, Samitvej etc have? is it a case of cost? check out bangkok christian.... get it sorted.

Proud for you

Love in your eyes

Sitting silent by my side

Going on holding hands

Walking through the nights

Hold me up hold me tight

Lift me up to touch the sky

Teaching me to love with heart

Helping me open my mind

I can fly

I'm proud that I can fly

To give the best of mine

Till the end of the time

Believe me I can fly

I'm proud that I can fly

To give the best of mine

The heaven in the sky

Stars in the sky

Wishing once upon a time

Give me love make me smile

Till the end of life

Hold me up hold me tight

Lift me up to touch the sky

Teaching me to love with heart

Helping me open my mind

I can fly

I'm proud that I can fly

To give the best of mine

Till the end of the time

Believe me I can fly

I'm proud that I can fly

To give the best of mine

The heaven in the sky

Can't you believe that you light up my way

No matter how that ease my path

I'll never lose my faith

See me fly

I'm proud to fly up high

Show you the best of mine

Till the end of the time

Believe me I can fly

I'm singing in the sky

Show you the best of mine

The heaven in the sky

Nothing can stop me

Spread my wings so wide

It's not 100% on point but there is an interesting article on www.economist.com on antidepressants and the difficulty of mapping the right drug for an individual. It makes the interesting point that even in an era of modern medicine a lot of guesswork is involved in getting the right combination of drugs to treat a condition, and that thye solution is very different for different people. Seems that KL may be having the same problem, of getting the right balance of medication. Well with luck the doctors will find that solution soon enough and the edema will begin to recede.

I also get KL's irritation with "get well soon" though of course everyone means well. A while ago I hit the gym for the first time in 20 years and lost lot of weight. For months people kept asking me "are u ok?" to the point where i was almost screaming :)
