Here is a copy/paste from yahoo.  When will the US stop stomping on individual rights?  Where is the limit?  When will they start arresting people because of their thoughts? This guy did absolutely nothing against law.  They arrested him because a gun dealer said he had seemed overly anxious to get a shipment of semiautomatic weapons and because they found a note in his car that he didn't post or give to anyone.    Ill. student accused of terrorist threat  EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - A university student was arrested after he allegedly threatened a "murderous rampage" similar to the Virginia Tech shootings that left 32 people and the gunman dead, authorities said. A gun dealer had alerted federal authorities about the man, saying he had seemed overly anxious to get a shipment of semiautomatic weapons, according to an affidavit filed in court by a police detective.Olutosin Oduwole, who was taking summer classes at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, was charged Tuesday with attempting to make a terrorist threat, a felony. He remained jailed Wednesday in lieu of $1 million bail.According to the affidavit, the 22-year-old wrote a note demanding that money be deposited to a PayPal account, threatening that "if this account doesn't reach $50,000 in the next 7 days then a murderous rampage similar to the VT shooting will occur at another highly populated university. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!"The note had suggested the shooting would target a "prestigious" university, but that word was crossed out. There was no direct mention of Southern Illinois University.Authorities found the note Friday in Oduwole's car on campus, said university spokesman Greg Conroy. Police also said they found a loaded gun in Oduwole's dorm room. The detective said in the affidavit that Oduwole, of Maplewood, N.J., had recently bought three .38-caliber semiautomatic guns online but had not yet received them, and also had ordered a .45-caliber semiautomatic gun similar to an Uzi.A gun dealer alerted the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives because Oduwole "appeared very anxious to get these firearms and seemed very impatient," the affidavit said.According to a search warrant, police also seized a picture of Oduwole flashing gang signs, a camcorder and U.S. and Nigerian passports. The court documents did not list the name on those passports.Calls on Wednesday to Oduwole's attorney, John Cernkovich, rang busy. The Madison County state's attorney did not immediate respond to a message seeking comment.Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville is about 20 miles northeast of St. Louis and has an enrollment of about 13,500 students.

No offense but idiots like you are the exact same people who blame the government and other individuals (in the case the gun dealer) for not acting before hand. The cated appropriately and probably saved lives!

Better to act accordingly, then having any regrets later on, sounds like a strange 22 year old? The note isn't what you would call normal one. I'm a gun enthusiast for the longest time, since I was 21....and never had thoughts like this on my mind!

sounds like the gun dealer did what he was supposed to do. the are actually required and have a moral responsibility to report suspcious behavior. i know your profile says your from mass. but are you from this country? the police are only able to search a car with probale cause or consent. i have a feeling this guy was acting screwy to begin with.

i believe this country is turning it self into a police state and slowy taking people rights away. this is not the case on this article. just look at the restrictive gun laws you have in the north east. what a load of crap you have to go through to buy one. dont even mention your right to defend your self.

to mis qoute slighty a great man in USA history. " the more laws are passed the more indviduals rights are eroded"

I would rather see this, then wait until he shot someone. A lot more peoples rights were protected by arresting him.

There are a lot more people's rights not protected in this country because the police fail to take action.

The point is the guy did nothing wrong......yet. If he had posted the note then that is a different story.

There was not probable cause to search his car. There was just one guy's suspicion, this is all. They didn't even have enough reason to deny him the guns.

Any note stating what has been said is questionable, whether he posted it or not.......it is not a grocery list! Since 9/11, and the mass shootings at the high schools and universitys, it is better to be safe than sorry.....yes, we are the land of the free, and we all have our rights, but we all have the right to be safe from any proposed or crazy thoughts from the unstable.

If the guy had been a Muslim of Middle Eastern origins, would you be posting this journal?

You wouldn't be. You would be praising the authorities for taking action.

If the search was unreasonable, I'm sure the ACLU will defend him in court. Aren't they one of your favorite organizations?

the thing is we were not there. the dealer has a moral and a civil responsibility to notifly the law if he thinks something is wrong.......it is in the law books dude look it up..........also when the police showed up the guy was most likely acting like a freak which would be more then enough for them to have cause to search his car when he is try to buy weapons....you where not there neither was i but give the police their respect and trust that they did not break the law. am 99 percent sure they did not break the law......they most likely stoped a serious harm from being done........ if you dont believe me go post bail for this man give him his guns and let him stay in your house....

Your point of he did nothing wrong is false. He just hadn't been caught yet. There is not one single univercity that allows guns on campus, let alone loaded guns. Don't gloss over this fact with, he did nothing wrong. He was doing wrong, he simply hadn't been caught yet. From my understanding from news reports, he was president of the student body, so he knew the rules. I commend the police from stopping another columbine, before it happened.
