Yo!

my lomo camera is the extension of my eyes.

this keyboard is the extension of my fingers. possibly it'll soon become the extension of our brains? it's easier for me to write an essay by typing it here than to actually write it on a paper.

the mouse is the extension of my hand.

telephone, for many people is the extention of their ears, not for me tho..

but...cigarettes...could be the extension of my lungs?

and heineken...the extension of paul collins' throat?

last couple weeks i went to see a skateboarding snd biking show.

yeah..those that ride and skate up and down the ramps and do all tricks.

what i saw made me think that they actually associate themselves with their vehicles. the balance exist thru the feeling that the vehicles are part of their bodies. that's why when they r about to fall...they feel that and adjust their position to keep themselves (their body and the bike or the skateboard) in balance again.

last week, while i was rollerblading, the mood and the speed were right enough to make me feel that the rollerblades were part of me...i'm not sure if they are actually the extension of my feet or not. but when i felt that it's actually part of me, it's so easy and so fun to do it. i tried skateboarding a couple times, haven't felt this way yet..but im sure that the principle are the same.

well..i don't care much about that, i just wish that English my the extension of my lingistic skills. please buddha plsssssssss : (

ciao!

ps. im not drunk (yet)

But seriously, it's true. When I'm on my bicycle I'm not doing tricks, but I've spent a lot of time on it and it's just an extension of my body. It feels so natural to ride. I feel the surface of the road and how my bike is handling. Wind speed and direction and surface quality and gradient of road all become something my body experiences directly through my bike.

And, in other things it's important that we get that natural feeling of extension. In weapons discipline as part of martial arts, it's essential the weapon becomes an extension of your hand or arm or body. In iaido your technique is most effective after the sword has become part of you, because then you no longer need to focus on the sword, it is out of your conscious mind, and you can concentrate on perfecting technique, stance, attitude (zanshin) etc. without always being encumbered by a foreign object. The sword becomes part of you, your muscles adapt to its presence and strengthen in the right ways for precise control over time and practice, and so your own body and mind have adapted to the presence of the sword, the movements are most natural with it there, without it you are missing a piece of yourself.
