Naut.Sirius 0 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Share @Eagle Thank you, as a musician you probably understand that i get the same kind of pleasure from taking photos as you most likely do while playing music. I was just thinking, I'm completely self taught as far as photography goes, I think I'd like to take a few classes to learn how to get more out of my camera and lenses etc. Quote Link to comment
Stramash 11 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Share self taught? wow! I think it goes beyond technical knowledge (though that helps) You have to have an eye for a good shot - and you certainly do! Brilliant! Quote Link to comment
Naut.Sirius 0 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Share Stramash: Thank you very much, seriously! I think it'd help though. Quote Link to comment
pandorea 7 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Share 5 starts from me also. Excellent! Quote Link to comment
Guest Posted March 29, 2010 Report Share Managing to take the "ordinary" and turning it into brilliant pictures. I agree with Stramash that you certainly have an eye for it. Very nice. 5 stars. Quote Link to comment
DANNO 3 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Share Please keep Wandering... believe me it is not aimless to us out here! Quote Link to comment
koolbreez 1 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Share I'll have a free week at the end of May. What In particular would you like to concentrate a lesson, or 2 on? Quote Link to comment
eagle 1 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Share lessons are always a good idea , your already taking great shots ! Quote Link to comment
English_Bob 6 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Share Lovely stuff - good eye for composition. I know a guy who will be running an SLR photography course soon. He's a professional photographer - I'm employing him to do some work at the restaurant. I also want to learn more - fstops and aperture sizes etc. I feel I'm in the same boat as you - I know what I want, but I have to do a lot of trial and error to get it right... I could save a lot of time if I knew what I was doing. Let me know if you want to join us. Quote Link to comment
Naut.Sirius 0 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Share @pandorea Thank you very much P'Nicky! S.E. Asia really is a very very photogenic place to say the least. @iamsamtoo Thank you very much, I like the idea that everything is actually extraordinary. Kind of like how the English author J.G. Ballard would describe architecture as having a life of it's own etc. @DANNO I hope to, there's a chance that I might be getting a job that will allow me to live in TH full time so I hope it pans out. @Geee Now that's a compliment! @koolbreez Thank you very very much, that's very generous of you. I guess everything that I as a digital kid have ignored that film photographers used to have to pay very close attention to. Learning light metering, how to adjust exposure properly according to the light, about f/stops and aperture etc. And also how to do all of this on "the fly". Again, thank you. @CiarnM Thank you! @MissJaidee Thank you, I really like you too but I still think that you're short! @eagle I agree, anything that can expand a skill level can be useful. @English_Bob First, thank you very much for your compliment. And yeah, you've got it exactly right. I basically luck out by taking as many shots as possible of something that I find interesting in the hope that one of them will pan out. I think there'd be a lot to be said for being more focused (and it'd be much easier on my CF cards). Fstops and aperture sizes is exactly it. I'd love to join, just let me know when. And I promise that I'll stop calling you "English Knob" :-) Quote Link to comment
