My Recent Surprise!

Life is full of surprises, they said. I've never really believed that up until recently. As I have written previously how life has brought so many unexpected things to me during the past two months, life brought me yet another surprise just two days ago.

As I was telling an ex-colleague about a decision not to pursue a job opportunity that she recommended me previously. Thn she asked, if I would be interested in applying for a vacancy at a company she's working for. She doesn't know anything in detail, so I should send my application directly to her bosses. But the interview might take place sometimes in the second week of February, because the whole team will be away for a training program overseas. So I took my time and sent a resume to the bosses at 5.45 pm.

Half an hour later, I checked my e-mail again and saw a reply from one of the bosses. He would like me to go in for an interview on Friday afternoon! So Fast!! Not knowing what the opportunity was, I was half-hearted. I had already made up my mind to give the freelance job a go, and wasn't really looking for a job. But something told me that this would be an interesting interview to go to.

The following day, I went out way ahead of time, to meet up with some ex-colleagues. After they went back to work, I sat at Starbucks reading a magazine to kill the time. When it was time to leave, it was raining cats and dogs outside. I told myself that I had plenty of time to take a cab to the building. As I walked to the taxi stand, there were at least 20 ppl waiting in the queue, and the traffic on the road in front was anything but moving. So I changed to walk through skywalk to Chidlom and take the BTS instead. Besides the not moving traffic, the road was kinda flooded as well, not only that the skywalk was on the verge of being flooded too!!

The building I had to go to is not adjacent to the skytrain. I was praying the whole way for the rain to at least ease off, if not stop, when I arrived at my destination, so I would be in time for the appointment. My prayer was heard, when I got off the BTS, the rain had eased off. Even without an umbrella, I still managed to get to the building without getting wet. ^_^

As my ex-colleague told me, the bosses were pretty cool with me, and the interview went positively in my opinion. The position they had available didn't suit my personality nor anything I was looking for. Towards the end of the interview, the bosses said that they would discuss with the CEO of the company, whom they will meet up with next week, for a possibility to open a position that would fit my qualification and experience.

One thing I regret during the interview is negotiating for the salary. I thought I was asking for quite a high range already, but one of the bosses replied almost instantly "That's within the range." Damn!!!!!!!!

If all goes well, I'd love to work in this job more than anything! I'd get to travel for a week, at least once a month, doing the job I enjoy, good bunch of colleagues and bosses (from what my ex-colleague said), good money and good vacation! What else could I ask for right?

I am more excited than ever now. The bosses said, they would like to arrange another phone interview with the CEO next week. I seriously cannot wait! I am currently holding my thumb, keeping my fingers crossed and touching whatever it is made of wood around me! This is probably the best surprise that life has brought to me recently! Wish me luck, please!!!

your luck is good BD!

Along with your hard work looking for opportunities I suspect

hoping you can keep the freelance on hold,

in case this doesn't suit you in the end ... enjoy the time between

you remember the grind---even with a good job :) how's your sleep now?

May85, Aomazon, Admin, Ciaran -- Thanks a lot for your well wishes... I need them!!!

Geee -- I hope so! esp. it's something I "deserve". According to Brian Tracy, in Latin, this means from service, which means my hard work, and positive outlook are paying off! ^_^

P'Tudtu -- I have heard of this company for a while now, and my ex-colleague is happy there. So I hope all will work out well. I'm also looking forward to work! Hard work always gives me a thrill! ^_^

primetime -- I'm talking about Thai salary here btw. :-P
