Leaving for Beijing
It's been wonderful to spend nearly a month in Canada and the United States, touching base with my family, my friends and my roots before heading off to China on Friday.Bangkok seems very far away. Some emails with some friends are the only concrete reminders. I am getting used to the cold, and the high prices.I visited New York, which is still an astonishing city to be in. It is beautiful, vibrant, rich, and full of life. Also, multiculturalism is HOT.My sister asked me if I missed the vibrant street life in Bangkok, the hustle and bustle and commerce. I said, "No, I don't mind the quiet streets here because they say to me that everything is working right, that everyone here has what they need and don't need to try so hard in that way."I got a scanner to store a bunch of documents so I dont need to haul so much paper around. Highly recommended.Interestingly, an old ailment I had forgotten about, acid reflux or GIRD, came back after I was here a few weeks. It is a reminder of how fundamentally unhealthy the diet for most North Americans is. I hope everyone is enjoying Bangkok and feeling lucky they live in such a blessed place.
