Blind Dates

I am at an age where my family and friends feel that I should be married and start a family. When I visit my parents on the weekends, I am constantly getting hints from them about how they would love to have grand-kids running around. So as a result, I am constantly being set up with blind dates by my own family members.Whilst I have no problems with my friends setting me up with blind dates, I do have problems with my family members trying to set me up with blind dates - in fact, I have consistently refused to go on a date which any of my family members have tried to set me up with.Wonder why?!?Maybe because my parents and family members do not know what I want!!  And my friends do!!  Not so sure.Any thoughts.Have you been on a blind date set up by one of your family members? And if so, how did that turn out?

Never had ja.

Just heard from some Chinese families.

Think it's not too bad. If it's just the first meet and introduce each other ja.

That's only first step...Then let nature goes......

No worry ja Van. ;)))) Have a good time. Cheers!

Cosmo: Family fix ups with blind dates...............get a photo first.........lol

It's funny, because my friend wanted to fix me up last year with her best friend/co-worker. I said to my friend, okay tell her to email me with a photo......well I received a few emails from her, but no photos?? I said no photo, no meet........when I visited BKK again last Dec, my friend said we'll meet and I 'll bring my friend too? I said okay, no problem..........only because I wanted to see my friend.........however, I met her friend, and now she's my gf........and we're so happy together, so you never really know about a blind date......and you're looking at her!

Good luck to you, because it worked for me........ lol

Personally I would defend fiercely my freetime using it to meet people that I choose !

Sorry, but with all the respect with different cultural attitudes, I think that it very very rarely works.... actually

I would say the same with internet weddings if I was not on a dating website...

anyway I wish you very good luck

"Maybe because my parents and family members do not know what I want " Arrr... what do you want ? man or girl ?...lol j/k

Maybe you think that you were expected by your family with each date. This can make you a bit against the date. Anyway I've never dated a blind person too....lol Good luck ja.

this convo was about a year ago..

aunt : Jum how old are you this year ?

me : 24 laew :P 25 next year ( which is this year im 25 )

aunt : do you have a bf ?

me : mmm.. no.. I don't need any bf right now , not ready for the new relationship and im ok with my single life ( at that time I was not over my ex yet )

aunt : well at your age i already had a baby u know ..

me : ??

aunt : My friend she got a son who is around your age or 3-4 years older .. has a good family background .. the family runs business about bla bla bla... he is now studying an MBA at the state and bla blabla..

me : *yawn*

aunt : *continue saying how nice the guy is , well- education , equally in wealth and status .. this and that ..

me : auntie you know that i am very selective right? i don't know why you guys keep pushing me for this .. this is the 20 th century and im the new generation! i think diffirently than you and those from 60th or 70th .. it worked for you and many others in your era but it doesn't mean i have to do the same way you did .. who knows maybe the guy you are about to set the blind date with me might have the sadism behavior ?? or he might have some crazy characters??

aunt : no way i guarantee you about that!! ( more convincing statement keep going )

me : well, no aunt i don't like to be pushed and i think i can find a good man to set up my own family by myself.. i appreciate your concern about me i know u want to give the best thing for me... but please if u want to see me happy .. you will have to agree with me on this issue..

aunt : you are just like your father , very stubborn !!

me : :) yes i am ,but i am sweeter 555

aunt : yeah right -_-'

Hmmm I personally couldn't care less about blind dates - I hate them. My folks and relatives sometimes ask me where is my gf? Im sure mom would love grand-kids but I quess she will have to just wait...

{Vento}: Mate, I know what you mean, but I feel we all need to find a balance between freedom and love you get from your own family (damn, am I deluded or what?!?), well at least, that is what I have been told.

(OMG}: Yes, you are right...I feel there are high expectations from my parents.

{LadyVin}: OMG, you have been through it too...join the club...hehe

follow your heart and use your mind to guide the way. (a heart doens't know how to talk, but it holds more than a million words). maybe on your way, something might appear which you won't even relized. so again, follow your heart.
