one of my cousins
you can pick your friends, but you can not choose your family. you are stuck with your relatives and are somehow linked to them through genetics. i have over 45 cousins because my father comes from a family of 16 children. i don't even know all my cousins, but i do know one in particular. more than likely, if i wasn't related to him, i would have nothing to do with him, but as he is family, i can't turn my back on him...well, actually i could, but what the hell, sometimes i feel sorry for him. he has been in prison twice when he was younger. it wasn't for anything violent...once for breaking into a house and stealing money (which he claimed was stolen from him) and the other time for beating up someone (which he claimed was self defense). all this happened about 10 years ago, he seems to have a somewhat normal life now...somewhat, according to his standards. he still gets drunk or high most everyday and gambles away just about every spare penny he gets. but he does hold down a regular job these days. his girlfriend is a former stripper (and if i had to guess, i would say she's probably made a few extra dollars perhaps performing pleasure enhancing activites for monetary reimbursement...if you know what i mean). the first time i met her, she offered to give me a lap dance after my cousin had passed out...to which i responded sarcastically, "if i ever want to know what my cousin tastes like, i'll give you a call." ewww. but hey, at least she has stuck by my idiot cousin's side and maybe even has helped him straighten out his life.
there is a story that recently happend that i want to tell you, but this journal is getting long and i don't want you to lose interest just yet. so this will just be an introduction to the person that is my cousin and i'll share the story in a few days.
so, does anybody else have relatives like this...that you'd rather not have, but you can't turn your back on them?
