What do you mean by reasonable price? I've found it hard to find a good steak at a price that isn't comparable to western prices.

The best steak I've had out here (and it really is incredible) was from the New York Steak House at the Marriott on Sukhumvit. Simply amazing. Since we can't post prices here for some reason, I'll just say that its comparable to a 4 star steak restaurant in the west, but the quality is 5 star.

rob: i'm not really a 4-5 * guy.........and really casual, and don't like to just pay for all the extras........it seems that beef is hard to get in thailand, and from what i've heard it mostly austrailian steak that is flown in........but had a taste at one of the shopping centers, and it was cheap, but too much fat, of course it wasn't a steakhouse or whatever.........i did try outback's, but left without being satisfied? thanks.........

hmmmm the only cheap steak place i know is next to ABAC Hallmark -- its called BKK Steak house. Since i am not a big fan of beef i can't tell you how it is but they do have alot of business and it ll only run you around about 100 to 200 baht , maybe worth a try .

chai: for 100-200 baht, i don't think it's a decent steak, the price is right, but who knows, if you say the place is always busy? thanks........will note it....

gomer: sizzler is too much of a franchise, their salad bar is probably better than their steaks.......haha, thanks...

The steaks at the TexMex place about halfway down Sukhumvit soi 36 are pretty good, and not a bad price. The ribs are great too. It's casual and they have outdoor seating. Can't rememeber the name of the joint right now, but im sure someone here will remember for me :)

I have eaten at Chokchai steakhouses. They suck. Awful. French origin (or whereever it is), Thai raised beef is crap. They are doing many things wrong. And they dont care for the beef at all.

I dont bother eating any steak unless it is imported. American is always the best choice and always the most expensive. The cheapest way to get an American steak here is to buy it in Foodland soi 5, frozen and then cook it yourself. A decent ribeye will run you around 5 or 600 baht. But that was frozen and for how long?

If you are careful at Marriott you can get out of there for around 1800 a person - no drinking or anything.

Tenderloins on Suk soi 33 about 3 or 400 yards down on left hand side is my favorite. They have Australian (I think) imported beef that is well cared for and you can get a full dinner for around 1000 Baht.

Grill and Gravy has good quality Australian and NZ beef for about the same prices, or a little cheaper and their sides are smaller portions (Thai sized), which I find appropriate. They are at Soi Ari BTS in the Villa mall. They also have American beef specials now for a bit more. Again same prices, and not including drinks. Buy a bottle of wine at Villa downstairs and bring it up to the restaurant. and pay the corkage fee. but know you have quality control

NY Steakhouse is great, but expensive, even if you have a Marriott card. And the portions are American sized, which means huge. Also, everything is a la carte. Great service though.

Chokchai is horrible.

My favorite place for a steak is the Dubliner, where for 700 baht or so, you get a superb filet mignon with great sides and a nice sauce. You can't beat it really. Wednesday night is ladies night and ladies eat at half price.

If you want to cook it yourself, the best steaks I've found are the tenderloins that Carrefour carries. The beef is raised in Thailand but under French supervision and it's superb. 600 baht a kilo.

if you dont mind meet in an almost pure french style I strongly recommend Indigo in Thanon Convent (which is also a very nice place). Good balance price-quality

The french restaurant in the heart of patpong is very good too (a bit more pricey though) but I cant remember the name... due to its location I have been there just a couple of times

under: thank you for your advice....dying to try these places out on my next visit.......

pjack:don't about frozen steaks in thailand, only if i buy them fresh here and freeze them myself......haha, i will surely look at this journal b4 my next visit....thanks for all the tip everyone!

Ok for the price of 300-500 baht steak. I love one in Bull's head Suk 33/1... Best Value of steak.

Along with Barbican in Soi Thaniya for almost the same price and Tenderloins on Suk soi 33 is my fav (coz its aussie!)

NY Steak house is great but wayyyyy too big portion for me :( Prime is greatttttttttttttt!!!

Yes Indigo is a pretty decent restaurant, but not very cheap...I guess on a par with overseas restaurants. They had a reasonably good selection of wine too I think.

Tenderloins is usually pretty good, and the Australian steak is not bad, but of course the best steaks are in Australia and not exported...a nice West Australian red wine from Margaret River washes it all down very well if you can get one.

There used to be a very good steak house on the top floor of the Landmark Hotel in Sukhumvit between soi 6 and soi 4, but they modernised it, and I am not sure if the steaks are still the same or not...it's very wanky looking now...

I don't eat steak very often, but when I do, it's medium rare, and with a red wine jus, or perhaps a nice mushroom or poivre suace...and the aforementioned Margaret River red...yum!

Good luck Eddie...
