Two websites confirmed today that ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra is due back in Thailand on Thursday at 9:00am.

The message on the sites, including Hi-Thaksin.net and TrueThaksin.com, urged supporters of the ousted prime minister to greet him at Suvarnabhumi airport.

There has been no confirmation on Mr Thaksin's behalf of the exact time and date of his expected return although it is believed he will confirm the website reports by his followers today.

Well, i won't be there for him for sure...

and not be sure about that. He always said but didn't do.

now Yongyuth got Red Card... so it might make him stop and think again

besides, for the news they checked only his son will fly from China or Hongkong.

He might miss Thailand... most people believe it's good that he will be back so we would know if he really done anything wrong (duh~) and so he also can come back to develop country bla bla bla..

agree with ya @ girltalk_th - everything bad seems to blamed on him actually - nah, he is not a saint, but look around at everyday life in Thailand - life is full of corruption left, right and center and perps generally get away with it.......

so obviously the PM should set the proper example and rob his own country ******* blind !!

what is wrong with U ppl the man is responsible for the murder of thousands of ppl ,of corruption and robbing his own country, but we just say " so what, they all do it !!! "

he should be ******* stuck behind bars for a long long time, but i guess there's not much chance of that !!

Would be funny if he was cleared beyond doubt of all charges. Although the naysayers would just shout corruption anyway... Just trying to work out which thai official isn't being accused of corruption.... <<<

with PPP in charge ppl seem to believe he will get off . . . it doesn't mean he wasn't guilty of corruption or off mass murder.

"He expects to be arrested and bailed but, after several weeks of private bargaining, he is confident the ruling PPP party will subsequently clear him and he will then attempt to regain control of the £800m worth of assets that were seized and frozen last year."

"Thaksin was overthrown by a military junta in 2006 and has since been living as an exile in London, but his prospects of a return to Thailand were raised at the turn of the year when the PPP was elected. The party is known to be sympathetic to him even though during his time in government he was frequently challenged with allegations of corruption, dictatorship, tax evasion and human-rights offences. Thaksin has been described by Human Rights Watch as a "human-rights abuser of the worst kind" but he denies any wrongdoing and has always stated that he would return to Thailand when it was safe to do so.

Thaksin firmly believes that his enemies in Thailand are no longer in a position of power and there is no sense of apprehension at City that his decision could result in him being imprisoned. Thaksin, quite simply, would not be returning if he had not been given categorical assurances."

prediction: Taksin will never spend time in prison. His assets will remain largely un-touched and he might even be Prime Minister again. But he will continue to run politics for the near future.

prediction: There will be another coup d'etat and it won't be bloodless this time. Different factions of the armed forces will be in contest with each other, one backed by royalists and another backed by Taksins boys. But the blood will be shed by protesters and students.

Ciaran - funny thing about life is that it is based around opinions and attitudes - some of which differ.

Wonder what are your thoughts on the coup leaders? Sonthi "i have no intention of entering politics" - soon after Deputy PM Sonthi. Promises to stop the rot in the South etc..etc... - yeah right!!! They f*cked the economy, the political stability and reputation internationally. Fight corruption? So why did it take the CIA to find out about multi million USD at Tourism Authority? Nah, not having it. They were in it for themselves, that is all - different names and faces, same ulterior motives.

Please note - I did say that I realise Thaksin is not a Saint, but he also ain't dumb. To re-enter Thailand at a time that people are out to get his neck on the chopping block is hardly wise, I think we would all agree!??!?

Let's just hope all passes seemlessly and justice takes it's course.

More importantly lets hope Thailand stabilises, nobody is hurt in the name of a good old-fashioned witch-hunt and normality prevails (whatever normality actually is).

Good night. Peace out......
