Fuel crisis,..... price are going up and none stop I think it will touch 40 baht soon.Rice crisis...... price for jasmine rice is about 270 baht / 5 kg. I never heard something like this before. So funny, we are food and agriculture land. We grow up rice and send out to the world but price in Thailand is more expensive than the export ones and farmers still poor.Lucky that my mom has rice field and farm, so we don't have to buy expensive jasmine rice, garlic, red onion, cassava etc. but mom and my aunt who is a farmer (she grow and harvest from my mom rice fields) are not rich. The richest ones seem to be the middle men.We have to be careful about rice robbery. I went to lotus and bought somethings to home. See it so cleary. I spent 1200 baht for not too many stuffs in the cart.

yes.. thai gov. still trying to do something else (save taksin ass and save their ass) so we have to know how to deal with it by ourselves (µ¹à»ç¹·Õè¾Öè§áË觵¹)

At Lotus in Chiang Mai Jasmine rice was about 150 Baht, 5Kg. Your right, food prices are going up, time to plant a vegi garden. Having your own garden helps reduce your carbon foot-print and is good exorcise :)

Food prices are out of control. Granted some is because of the price of oil, but I think many large food companies are using it as a disguise to raise prices even more than their production and distribution costs rise because they can get away with it now and institute those price increases they wanted it put up even without the price of oil increasing.

of course ja.... King....

"Sufficiency Economy" as our King said.... it can imply for this problem as well.... but the key point is how to balance or where the sufficiency is....

Wow... It's almost as if thai farmers are being screwed so the "elites" in this country can continue padding their pockets. I remember buying rice in university. It was the cheapest thing you could buy. If you want to do the "sufficiency economy" thing so you can have lots of cheap rice to eat, I'd be interested to see what the country looked like after 5 years.

same problems all over the world and no real answers to them. We blamed the introduction of the Euro instead of the german Mark for high prices, the Euro is blamed to ruin the US economy, the US blame the Chinese for the rising prices of food, esp. Jasmin rice and Thailand is the world´s biggest exporter of rice. Everybody blames China, including me:

China has its own inflation problem (especially food prices), so imports from China do not help tame inflation in developed countries anymore. Worse, China imports more and more oil to drive their economy, and in the process driving oil prices everywhere. It's already over $4 a gallon here in the U.S. And they are not the most efficient country in production / consumption.. think about pollutions and health hazard in China.

Sorry, I just have general hatred towards this country (not Chinese people).

I will never be convinced that the price of oil tripled in the last few years due solely to more Chinese and Indian consumption. Cost to pump the oil surely haven't risen that much.
