"GOD DELUSION"

                                                          God delusion

My friend and I were at a coffee shop at MBK retelling a novel we’ve read .We were both misty eyed as we exchanged our views, feelings  about it. Then, all of a sudden, he told me that he would buy me a book entitled “God Delusion.” So we jumped out of the coffee shop and walked hurriedly to SIAM Paragorn. When we reached the bookstore, he amusingly told  me, “I will give you a gift of knowledge.” THE GIFT OF KNOWLEDGE: that’s the greeting one can see at the entrance. I just laughed.

As he picked one copy, he also pointed at some other books whose words were nothing but insulting words against MY GOD. And he muttered something and I just said “Not funny.”  I am a devout Catholic, but my friend would always make fun of  me for my incapacity to argue with him about religion, about Christianity. He just got so much knowledge about religion that sometimes, I would just be in awe in the way he verbalized his thoughts. Most of which were contradictions to my beliefs. As Catholics, we’re always told that debating about religion is a useless act. So, as my saving grace  against  his overpowering reasons, I would just say “I don’t want to talk about religion. It’s my faith that is most important for me.” I’ve just read a few pages. This book is too deep for me to handle as I’m not used to reading this kind of book. But on one of the pages, it struck me when the writer said, “Insulting a restaurant might seem trivial, compared to insulting God. But chefs and restaurateurs really exist and they have feelings to be hurt, whereas blasphemy, as the witty bumper sticker puts it, is a victimless crime.”  God, for me, for some of us, does exist. But why victimless? When I read this line, I felt like a hand slapped my gentle  face and a voice yelling  at me, “Hey girl! Wake up. Your God doesn’t exist!”  L  But I appreciate his act of  kindness. And I would really consider the book as a priceless gift because it’s the first book he gave me which is new, not  like the other books  which are  hand-me-down. Hehehe! Peace dude!^-^   The book, though, tells ideas which are totally new and opposite to what I believe in, yet, it gives an awakening sight. And good timing, it’s holiday - one-month holiday. It will be a good idea to spend it with “gifts of knowledge.”  And I just hope that my faith would remain strong!*-*

do you ever wonder why "as a catholic we're told that debating about religion is useless"? <<

because when u ask them to prove something their answer is always "we don't need proof we've got faith !!"

Personally, I don't have any problems with people having a faith - if that's what it takes for them to make it through life. If you want to believe that ten little bottles sitting on the wall is going help you be a better person then, so be it. The problem I have is with organised religion. When you get people in positions of power, in those organised religions, who preach to the masses that what's contained in those little black books is literal historical fact.

If people care to open their eyes and ears, stop living in blind ignorance and do some research themselves then they'll eventually see the facts for for what they are. There are so many historical inaccuracies in the bible that I could sit here and explain to you for hours why it is a load of unmitigated cods wallop. The reason why anybody believes in a god is because they are plainly and simply living in fear of the unknown.

FACT: Jesus Christ, who's real Jewish name was Josephus Ben Joseph, was a MAN who was jewish devout priest (of the Essenes) who was crucified for political insurrection against the Roman empire.

BULLSHIT: He was born of a virgin, walked on water and rose from the dead.

I can guarantee you that some, if not all, of those cardinals at the vatican know this already. When you've got a massive store of the worlds most secret manuscripts - including the Dead Sea Scrolls - hidden away in the inner sanctum then you can control knowledge can't you.

SATHORN: TRUTH ACCORDING TO MILLIONS: He was born of a virgin, walked on water and rose from the dead.

Funny, millions (of Americans) also thought Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, but they were all wrong. Millions of Germans thought they would win the second world war, they also were all wrong. Millions of people thought the stock market would keep on rising, and they were also all wrong.

The truth has nothing to do with the amount of people believing it.

It's funny how quick the atheists are to jump in whenever religion gets discussed. Is it still alright for me to believe in God too??

Read my post. I said that I don't care what you believe in, as long as don't try and pass off what's written in that little black book as historical fact.

TRUTH ACCORDING TO MILLIONS: He was born of a virgin, walked on water and rose from the dead.

Who's TRUTH - are you a Jehovah's Witness by any chance. The really sad thing for millions of people, such as yourself, that have been brainwashed since birth, is that, your so called version of TRUTH only exists in that little black book of yours. Nowhere else, in any other archive, or historical document is it written or reported. Your answer of course is that it's true because you believe it. Unfortunately, believing in something doesn't make it a fact.

sorry that is NOT the truth ... that's why it's called faith ... a truth is something which can be proven to be factually correct. now u prove to me that any of the crap u have just posted is definitely true and even i'll start believing !!!

.... but then again when one of ur main tenants of faith is based on an incorrect translation can we expect any f**king better !!
