Hi all Tfers,

After reading through all journals regarding to the situations in Thailand. I am the one who feel so sad and depressed for Thai people, and Thai country. Even though I am in Australia, but my heart belongs to my land where is Thailand. Many people talk a lot about Thailand. I watched news this morning about airport seized without notice, and the goverment has prohibited Australians who travel in Thailand at this time. This is a huge embarassment and an enormous amount of killing the country by this demonstrations.I feel so bad with this.

Btw, my family was coming to visit me this Friday, but they couldn't because the flights have been canceled. I am going back to Thailand in two weeks, I hope things will be alright.

I really hate these people who have never thought of the country. The foreigners try to understand the situations, but not. The image of Thai country and Thai people are beautifully elegant in foreign's eyes, but now it is decreasingly died out:(

What I can do is I will pray for Thailand.... LET'S PRAY FOR SAVING THAILAND!!!

It is such a shame for the country and the Thai people.........economy is down, and it won't get any better if the tourist trade is restricted or compromised with these types of outbursts of politics and unsafe tactics by either sides.........only the local Thai people and the country will lose.........it's not a pretty picture for the outside world!

A shame? Why? Just because a bunch of foreign tourists got their asses stuck on a airport for a day or two?

Well, I am not there but seems like these protesters are fighting for democracy. Or at least take some active action to deffend what they believe in. That is GOOD. No matter if they are right ot not, smart or not. They are taking action!

In eastern Europe we've recently changed a lot of governments this way :). Something thich could be impossible during the communist regime and seems impossible even now in the US of A (yeah all used to hate Bush, but what exactly did you do to change him? Who is to blame as it si claimed to be a democracy?) because people were afraid ot gather and take action.

I'd support the protesters, no matter their side. And they seems pretty peaceful - the arport doesn't seem to be burning and at least I didn't see any farang tourists hanged by the roof.

I agree wtih kungnoi and dy.

Teach noir: I agree wtih you as well, but they should have thought of the whole things for the country. They could protest anywhere, but not the airports where are the main door for economics, tourism, etc. Honestly, I don't support any side as I am in the middle, but they should have concerned about the effects in consequences. That's all!

@technoir

Its not just a bunch of foreign tourists, what about all the thais abroad?

What would you do if you would be stuck in a foreign country without cash and not able to go home? Probably crying like a baby, tough guy.

Some one will cry when an Air Ticket doubles in price because of loses they have suffered!

And yes its not a very nice feeling doesn't matter what country you come from, when Thailand is Land Of The Smiles, and one who visits for the first time runs into thugs holding them hostage and offering a bottle of water.

When do tourists deserve to be treated like that?

Even more, they protest and trap innocent people, people who will not answer, and will not fight. "A bunch of tourists", include investors? There is NO ability to live in isolated country anymore. Close tourist business, close investor projects, "Return to innocence" - rural country? Should I stay away and spend vacations in another country? Should I invest in another country? Should I break negotiations with BKK international schools and my son will study in another country? Who will be happy?

And do not forget about Thais abroad. All flights was cancelled. Business will slowdown also.

BJ, Some one will cry when an Air Ticket doubles in price because of loses they have suffered!

----- Right now one week in Pattaya 3 star hotel including charter ticket, departure 28 November, costs in Moscow 350 USD. Landing place unknown "where it will be possible". So sad, no one will give me vacation now :)

Flying_Pig, our tourists expect prices go down at least 20 percent, and baht down to 40+ baht/1 USD exchange.

I do respect all you guys'opinions here, and I agree with you all. This has caused both Thais locally and internationally including foreigners who have different perspectives to travel in and out of Thailand.

I am looking forward to going back to Thailand. I hope they can fix this thing soon.

bigcatbus : thanks, interesting, but doesn't that go against the 1st law of Thai property economics - 'when we have no customers, let's put the price up' ? :)

Flying_Pig, in this situation I think not... Too many hotels and restaurants will lose customers. Last days cynical joke is "Three Boening 747 from Moscow, Petersburg and Ekaterinburg (Largest and richiest cities) safely landed in U-tapao, airport guarded by bargirls". Tour companies hope to earn at least ten dollars, and booked flights cancellation will lead to bankrupcy.

I remember in 1999, after our local economic crysis and currency devalvation I spend a week in Bulgarian resort for 150 USD, including flight, hotel and breakfast.

NYCTreeMan - I doubt very much that they get paid to protest - paid by who, and out of what immense budget?

Mark, I think (hope) what Tech Noir may have been meaning was that he defends or respects their right to protest in order to bring about change - and of course that is the way it should be...but I also do not agree with the idea of effectively destroying a huge part of the country's main source of income into the bargain.

Our tourist industry has now been ripped apart and spat out - our country has lost it's image as a safe and secure place to come to - certainly in the eyes of many overseas - hence the "reactionary" (I removed the word "idiotic") Australian governments response in issuing a travel warning - but the problem is that this is what we will continue to see until we can win the hearts and minds, and more importantly, the TRUST of the travelling public once again - and that will take a while!

I don't support any side but coz they bring me trouble...

I reserved ticket to fly to Indonesia on 27 moring....

My products that order from Europe will arrive here but have to cancel shipping now as airport still close...

Anyway If they do anything and did not make anyone trouble, that will be good but this ..what they dinimlasd now are bring tons of trouble..

Think about export fresh products....

Think about export live animals....

When we can not ship the order in the time that deal...we goona pay more for their charge.

It is high charge..we lost benefit as products stil lstuck at the airport and have to pay for high charge as products did not arrive customer same as contract that sign...

Economic down...

Noone want to travel Thailand...

the problem will be like chain...

NYCTreeman: I doubt that someone may pay money to the protesters behind. They can't protest that long if there is no money support, but who is behind that, that's good question!

I agree wtih contanica, we lost lots of money in Thailand such as, tourism industry, logistics, economics, and other things as chained.

The good thing is the protesters are asking for thier rights that is Democracy, but they should know where it's right, not to close the important main door of country where is the fastest transport.

I hope things will be alright soon, I really look forward to go back to my land, and it's very hard to find time off because of my study here.

greezy greer in relation to the Aussie Govt travel warning they had to do something mate remember Bali (the bombings" the govt got caned for not issuing any warnings at that time it's warning is "display a High degree of caution" in Bangkok (if you can get there")

The six o clock news show protesters with guns and grenades going off, my friends who (have never been to Thailand" ) but wanted to go will not go now because they don't feel safe!!!!

I suspect many of those 3000 tourists won't bother to come back very soon and that is Thailand's loss!!!
