My old cat buddy Butch died this week.  I've known him for 12 years since I moved here and I do miss him knowing he won't be here to visit or get his head scratched. He was a tom cat and ruled the area coming home all beat up from time to time. I thought he was the neighbors cat and chased him away from the food I put out for the feral cats. WHen I found out he was feral I felt bad and we become friends as I made the food more available. I named him Butch after seeing him with a small black cat that was hanging on him. They looked like Butch and Sundance running from a bank job so that was their name. I still call the feral cats the Hole in the wall Gang. He took over my old camper which I have next to my house in the woods and I left him have it to stay warm in the winter. I found out the woman who lives next door took a liking to him and was feeding him too. Feral cats tend to work the neighborhood and he did that. She would spoil him when he was beat up from fighting giving him treats and special foods.  I have to let her know he is gone now. He has been getting old and I took to calling him papa as he has fathered all the cats I have at my door, a bunch of spayed females and other assorted feral cats. Not to many males stay around because he would run them off after they reached puberty.  He crawled in my camper to die and at least I know what happened to him instead of just disappearing like so many other of my cat friends. He was looking sick and came up for one more head scratch and went to my camper where I found him a day later. He was 14 years old and he had a good life for sure and I only now know he was a big part of my time here. bye Butch !!!
