German marries cat with a complete wedding ceremony. It's a bizarre story about a 39-year-old postman who got married to his pet. Actually, the story isn't that crazy once you read what the real reason was.

"Cecilia is such a trusting creature. We cuddle all the time, and she has always slept in my bed," Uwe Mitzscherlich, 39, said in a statement. "Our hearts beat as one - it's unique!"

Uwe Mitzscherlich wanted to tie the knot before his 15-year-old pet died. The bride is an obese and asthmatic feline which has health problems. The groom is a single postman who lives in Possendorf, Germany.

Germany Prohibits Marriage to Animals

Perhaps this is way out of the ordinary, and it is according to the law. Marrying an animal in Germany is completely illegal. Mitzscherlich paid $428 to a television actress to play officiator in the ceremony.

Mitzscherlich has a twin brother, Erik, who served as a witness. The wedding went smooth and nobody caused any interruptions. Maybe this is a bit weird, I also cuddle with my pet but that doesn't mean I'll marry it.

I love the Germans. They're always good for unintentional comedy.

In the US they used to have a game called Germany or Florida where Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla would read weird and bizarre news reports and people had to guess whether it happened in Germany or Florida. Those are the two places that produce the most disturbing news stories.
