The Royal Project Foundation in the North of Thailand The year 1969 marked the establishment of the Royal Project in the North of Thailand as originated from His Majesty the King's private study. Under the directorship of H.S.H. Prince Bhisatej Rajani,this Royal Project has pursued its mission in collaboration with the Royal Thai government, foreign governments, universities, public and private agencies and volunteers.
During the past three decades, the Royal Project has successfully fulfilled His Majesty's wish by placing emphasis mainly on R&D which lead to the proper cultivation of highland crops for opium substitution. The hill tribe's consciousness on the conservation of forest and watersheds has been motivated and better standard of living in the project areas has been conceived, In March 1992, The Royal Project Foundation rendering public services with effective management system and permanent budget allocation. His Majesty the King Himself holds the position of Honorary President of the Foundation. the component of the Board consists of H.S.H. Prince Bhisatej Rajani as Chairman together with 9 appointed committees. The Royal Project Foundation, as it now becomes, has responded to His Majesty's initiative to help the hill tribes to help themselves in growing useful crops which enable them to have a better standard of living. |
