After anthropologist Susan McKinley came back home from an expedition in South America , she noticed a very strange rash on her left breast. Nobody knew what it was and she quickly dismissed it believing that the holes would leave in time.

Upon her return she decided to see a doctor after she started developing intense pains. The doctor, not knowing the exact severity of the disease, gave her antibiotics and special creams. As time lapsed the pain did not subside and her left breast became more inflamed and started to bleed.

She decided to bandage her sores however as Susan's pain grew more intense she decided to seek help from a more certified doctor. Dr. Lynch could not diagnose the infection and told Susan to seek the aid of one of his colleagues who specialized in dermatology whom was sadly on vacation. She waited for two weeks and finally was able to react the derma tologist.

It has maybe nothing to do with washing. I read a long time ago that if you go to tropical areas you should be careful when you hang your clothes in open air to dry. It seems that some kind of bug put his larvae on your clothes (and it has the same effects like those you describes). The only thing you can do is ironing your colthes before wearing them.

I don't think that this bugs are even the larvae can survive in another climate, why fear it when clothes are imported from somewhere else.

If I can give a good advice. If you ever get sick or getting some annoyance here or there after you came from travelling in a tropical or subtropical region, try then to contact a specialised tropical institute. Theyre best placed to know the symptons and how to cure it.

this might be an hoax, but the story I told is true.

From: http://www.cttm-kenya.com/docs/insects.pdf

OTHER FLIES

Some flies belonging to the same class of insects as houseflies, are called myiasis flies.

The Tumbu or Mango fly likes to lay its eggs in clothing left out to dry on the grass and if

the clothes are not ironed, each egg hatches into a larva, which burrows into the skin and

forms a boil. The developing larva eventually emerges but not before causing pain and

irritation. More rarely, some fly larvae suck blood (the Congo floor maggot) while

others feed on deeper tissues, especially if they find a wound or soft skin through which

they can burrow.

Note that biting mites and ticks are also vectors of some viruses and bacteria, but they are

NOT insects, being related to spiders.

well done Gee!!! Anile seems to eityher enjoy winding us up with hoaxes or is just very gullible.

The images that you so kindly spared us from are actually close ups of a Lotus seed pod (oooh scary)!!!

But Eric is right in that there are potentially scary infestations out there!!! (just not this one)
