Mmmhh, I can understand your feelings. When I was in Thailand I consulted a doctor for skin problems... he visited me 3 times and as the cure he prescribed wasn't working he also did a skin biopsy... always the same verdiict and just a little change of prescription.

During a trip in Cambodia I decided to consult a doctor there... yeah, in just 20 minutes I was out with the correct diagnosis and the correct prescription... and a week later I was fine

This experience has not helped the opinion I have about doctors in Thailand

tell me about it.

Thailand has excellent medical care - much better than one would expect from a newly developed country with sh*t sidewalks and a govt as such. But it does. The problem is many doctors are products of the thai eystem and cannot communicate with patients, cannot handle difficult diagnosis problems. The main gripe I have is they do not educate the patient at all. They are loathe to discuss the condition, options, and treatments. Most will never make a prognosis. (Maybe it is like fortune telling?)

Perhaps the worst and the best are teaching hospitals. Take Chulalongkorn Medical School and Hospital. This is the flagship school in Thailand. It has the smartest Doctor Professors in the Kingdom but if you go for treatment there beware of the idiot doctors who will be looking after you. I have first hand experience with this. After they graduate they do residency as in the rest of the world. The caliber of Thai medical professionals who are a couple years out of school is often freaking scary. They are just like Thai students in uni. Bumbling, reacting, cannot keep notes together, losing medical records, finding medcal records and NONE have any bedside manner and ability to talk to a patient. Even a patient who can communicate in Thai.

Bottom line: If you live here get good medical care and stay in private hospitals as much as possible.
