Nocturna

I bought it on Tuesday. Nocturna, a novel written for four hands by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. I say four hands on the keyboard because we use both. I already have read half of its 550 pages. It’s fantastic. The theme is a new re-reading of the myth of vampirism, although far from soft versions of today, for a teen people. Del Toro’s Vampires Del Toro and Hogan are not romantics: They have black soul and they are brutalities.

The figure of the vampire has submitted three morphologies very clear: an evil, seductive and of aristocratic bearing man, a mixture of Lord Byron and Marques of Sade (from its first prototype, Lord Ruthven, to the classic Dracula), a bloodthirsty animal, monstrous and disgusting (the strigoi of folk tales from Eastern Europe, the Nosferatu in Murnau's film, Night of the vampires) and the most current for teens: a vampire supposedly "deep" and in love man that suffers his eternal no-dead life. I obviously prefer the first two types.
