"BASTERDS"
?History has been distorted!? That?s what I blurted after watching Inglorious Basterds last night. However, after a few minutes of organizing and discussing my thoughts, I realized that it?s Quentin Tarantino?s movie. Just like the characters of the Basterds that he made, Quentin doesn?t make apologies, ask for no forgiveness, make no excuses. He thumbs his nose at conventions.
Some of the scenes are very long, yet they are so full of tension and humor that they?ll leave you cringing in your seats and suddenly you?ll be rolling around laughing.
I am a great fan of Brad Pitt and just a knit of his brow tickles me. He?s such a priceless and humble actor who doesn?t mind portraying small roles despite the glory he?s enjoying now.. (Remember, he played a fitness instructor in Burn Out Reading and after a few scenes, he was shot.) In this film, he delivers a one -of - a kind performance as a pitiless basterd, a mass murderer. You?ll be laughing incessantly with his Tennessee accent and his squeezed lips. Gone is the face of the good ole boy, yet he?s growing old like wine!
Christopher Waltz was undoubtedly sensational. He stole the show in the movie. His portrayal as a deceiving and ruthless colonel was soo creepy and funny. He has the face that could launch an Oscar award!
This movie is jam packed with everything: suspense, drama, entertainment, fun?! Quentin Tarantino has given birth once again to a new genre of movie. Now, I should shed away (even for a while) my knowledge of WWII, and appreciate my new notion of war through the eyes of QT!
