The original song was written by Jay Livingston & Ray Evans and was performed by Doris Day on the soundtrack of Hitchcock's 1956 picture "The Man who Knew Too Much" During that year it made noi. 2 in the US Billboard charts and no. 1 in the UK Top Ten. In March 1957 it won the Oscar for best original song.
