Not sure about Brisbane! Just be thankful that you are not in Perth!

Not sure about Kangaroo...never tried it myself.....plus I refuse to eat what is on our coat of arms!

As far as sweets go......well I can help :)

Tim Tam = the whole range. they've got these new mint and honeycomb crisps

Picnic ice-cream = similar to the crunchies ice cream except it is in a cone

Meat Pie= get a local to help you choose this.

i better stop as I ma getting hungry. if you want more info just let me know.

oh and try one of our many beers........"blonde" beers are all the rage here with the young crowd

Ths might help you decide.

http://www.visitbrisbane.com.au/Travel/Default.aspx

It tells you what is on, durng any particular month of the year.

Alternatvely, you could ask Gav or BJ.

I am a frequent visitor to Brisbane on business - if I have a few hours to spare, I would go to South Bank to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

If I have half a day or more, I would either drive to the Sunshine Coast or the Gold Coast.

Btw, the roads around Brisbane is a nightmare to navigate, I strongly advise against driving, unless you have car insurance first.

Thank you for a link and details Cosmo - Any place or restaurant in South Bank you would suggest? Nah i wont be driving as i would get lost for sure! :(

Thanks Xao! Looks interesting for Botanic Garden and Whale Watching. Will check it out!! thanks :) definitely check out those sleepy koala :D

I'll be in Sunshine Coast and Goldy for a week yes :)

And please keep all the hated, abusive, bitter about race or sport comments elsewhere or on TF forum instead coz they are wasting my journal space. Thanks

Look for a Mum & Pop type food bar humburger place and get a true Aussie burger.

Make sure you get beetroot on it.

Try to give yourself a whole day and head north to Australia Zoo

Steve Erwin is not there any more (RIP) but his family is

and the Zoo is worth the trip try to have lunch one day at the old Tresuary Casino

good cheap but tasty food there

Ammy, there are plenty of restaurants just behind the park (Southbank) - located on Grey Street. It will depend on your taste, of course.

Grey Street is also a great place for shopping too - many hi-so live around that area - apartments are $1 M AUD plus.

Any way, as to restaurants along SouthBank, try Deck's Steak and Seafood;

http://eatout-brisbane.com.au/Decks-Steak-and-Seafood.htm.

That's the only one I can recall at the moment.

There are plenty more dotted around the park (Southbank), it is a big place, just take your time to explore the place.

You will definitely enjoy your experience there.

Well Ammy, apart from the aborigines, people really live there since just 200+ years.

So besides food, the landscape and maybe some native animals, what else there is to see?

For some real sightseeing of historic places, visit Europe ;)

Kangaroo is good eating, you should definitely try some.

Lone Pine is great for cuddling Koalas, and it's a nice boat trip to get there. Also take a ride on the citycat. If you can rent a bike, cycling along the south bank of the river is very pleasant.

Also lookout for the open topped public tour bus. It stops at all the major city center attractions, and once you've bought a ticket, you can hop on and off whenever you like.

If you have a kangeroo steak make sure they don't overcook it as it will be tuff to eat and dry and not juicy and tender, personally I prefer cow!!!!

Go to a bakery and eat some freshly baked bread with vegimite and cheese!!!

At least you won't be cold there compared to down south!!! lol lol !!!

Welcome to Brisbane! Some of the guys already recommended which places to go. Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are definitely the places I would suggest along with Australia Zoo, Glass House Mountain, don't forget to hop on the City Cat so you can have a look around Brisbane River, The Conrad Casino.

Just let me know if you ever want to meet up and have a great time in Brissie!

There is an absolutly great Turf to Surf Restaurant on the Gold Coast Called "Ashmore Seafood and Beef"

Get to South Port and head towards Nerang and look for Ashmore Road. Any local will tell you where it is. The Seafood is so fresh and melts in your mouth. Try the Morton Bay bugs. Hmmmmmmm BUGS ........ Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm.
