In the early 1920s the king offered his private property for the construction of a new home for the institute on Rama IV Road. The new buildings were officially opened on 7 December 1922, now named for the king's mother, Queen Saovabha. At the same time, the institute's first director, Dr. Leopold Robert, requested contributions from foreigners living in Thailand for the establishment of a snake farm, which would enable the institute to manufacture antivenom for snake bites. Reportedly the second snake farm in the world after one in Sao Paolo, Brazil, it was opened on 22 November 1923 by Queen Savang Vadhana, then President of the Thai Red Cross, on the institute's premises.

The research into snake venom is highly important, since many people fall victim to venomous snake bites. Normally only an antidote that is based from the same snake’s venom can save the individual's life.Containing thousands of some of the most venomous snakes in the world, such as the king cobra and all sorts of vipers, the snake farm is a highlight for any tourist visit. There are daily shows where handlers play around with pythons, and extractions of venom can also be witnessed. There is also a museum, and lectures are given.

The first part is Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute. Inside the institute, there is an exhibition showing everything about snakes from live snakes, snake’s anatomy, preserved snakes to animated visual aids. There will be a demonstration and lecture on venom extraction daily at 11:00.  The second part is the Snake Farm which is an outdoor section. This part of the exhibition allows people to get closer to the snakes. There will be a demonstration and lecture about snakes at 14:30 on weekdays. During the lecture, audiences will get to participate in holding the snakes under the supervision of the staff.

thank you for emails and calls with good advises ... I step back ,see what will happen next ,truth is the most important thing for me to marry someone ... but I still want to be his good company

he is very good guy as everyone knew ... just a little mistake I should forgive him...and what he tried to hide it was what some good thing he tried to help his friend... he just needed some times to tell me everything ....but I still feel something inside...

I saw a Python that was 14ft long washed up the beach in Langkawi, maybe he was 12 inches diameter, he was big. Not to much trouble on land, but lord help you if he catches you in the water. Very interesting journal Fay :)

I'm with Admin here, only worse...

Thankfully there are no poisonous snakes here - the Susquehanna River about 20 miles south of here seems to keep the Pennsylvania timber rattlers on the southern side.

Just the same, even small harmless garden snakes get a relentless attack with my lawnmower whenever they dare to venture near my house.

I relize snakes have a place in nature but not near me.

Snakes can make "friends" with us very quickly if you are gentle (and they are non-poisonous)

since we are warm-blooded and they are cold-blooded--once they are familiar with you they

are often very happy quietly enjoying your warmth! (may be a lesson in there?) Hah!
